About Under Canvas Great Smoky Mountains

Under Canvas Great Smoky Mountains is tucked in a lush forested valley in the Smoky Mountains and is just 10 minutes away from Pigeon Forge, TN and 30 minutes from Gatlinburg, TN. Also, just 1 hour away is Knoxville, TN, the largest city in the area. There are plenty of options for choose from in neighboring towns for dining, shopping and entertainment. Entry into Great Smoky Mountains National Park is just 30 minutes from camp and you can also enjoy nearby scenic byways in Tennessee and North Carolina. Spring in the Smokies brings mild temperatures and rain. Enjoy higher temperatures and sunny skies during the summer with very pleasant nighttime temperatures. In the fall, temperatures cool and the leaves start to change bringing about a sea of red and gold hues throughout the region.

Room and Board

Team member housing is in Pigeon Forge, TN either off the parkway or tucked into the hills. Each housing unit has roommates and offers fully furnished rooms, laundry, WiFi and a fully equipped kitchen. Under Canvas Great Smoky Mountains has the longest season of all our locations, closing just after Thanksgiving each year. Team members get together to celebrate the holidays together with a potluck party for Thanksgiving. Also enjoy the beautifully colored foliage that surrounds camp in the fall.

Getting Here and Getting Around

The closest airport is in Knoxville, Tennessee, about a 45 minute drive from the Pigeon Forge area. There are many amenities accessible to team members in both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg including grocery stores, restaurants, and shopping. The entrance to the national park is nearby and provides accessibility to many outdoor activities yearround including hiking, camping, whitewater rafting, biking and more! There are also many scenic drives in the area through Tennessee and North Carolina.

    Camp Facilities Technician 1

    As a Facilities Technician, you work closely with the Facilities Supervisor to ensure our glamping location is well-maintained, safe, and operational for our team members and guests. You play an important role in our success by performing daily maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of our tents, amenities, equipment, and property. Depending on the camp location, the nature of work performed will vary from basic upkeep to more technical functions such as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. This is a seasonal, hourly position that includes the option of team member housing for the duration of employment.     As a Line Cook, you are an integral part of our food and beverage program. You will work with other Back of the House team members to deliver on culinary standards in our live fire kitchens.
