Whether you're a local from right here in Moose Pass, a world traveler looking to spend a season in the last frontier, or a student fresh out of culinary school, if you know how to work hard to support your team, have passion for what you do, care about the community you live in and you keep your word when you give it, we're happy you're here! 

​Because of where we're situated and what we do here at Trail Lake Lodge, we're looking for people with a wide range of skills and a 'can-do' attitude. We may not be the most remote outfit in the land, but that doesn't mean we don't find ourselves needing to be pretty self sufficient from time to time! We may find ourselves busy as can be serving a whole restaurant full of guests one day, the next day we may just get into a demolition and rebuild project to improve our facility, and the very next it could be all hands on deck to provide the highest quality service to an entire pavilion full of wedding guests in tuxedos and evening gowns! We've all just got to do what it takes to get things done.

So now you know a little about what we need on the business side of things, but there's a whole lot more to living here than that! We're also very much interested in surrounding ourselves with people who are passionate about exploring Alaska! We do our best to make sure everyone has two consecutive days off each week so you can unwind and get out to enjoy this amazing place we're living in. We also have some pretty good connections throughout the entire state and we try our best to find excellent deals for you if you're interested in going on a wildlife viewing tour, a sightseeing flight over a glacier, a kayak trip out on the water or heading out fishing, horse riding, mountain biking or hiking. It's high on our priority list to make sure you're able to take advantage of the time you have while in Alaska.

  • Line Cook

    Moose Pass, Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula
    $15.00 - $22.00 / hour + tips

    Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals for a pub-style menu. Assist with food prep, stocking, and general kitchen duties. 

    ​Job Duties:

    • Prepare meals, maintaining quality and consistency.
    • Prepare buffet meals for group events.
    • Maintain the highest health/safety standards.
    • Maintain cost controls / ensure minimum waste.
    • Assist in inventory control and stocking.
    • Perform general kitchen cleaning and janitorial duties.
    • Work with front of house staff to ensure exceptional customer experiences.
    • Assist in serving group events.

     

    ​​Requirements:

    • Previous food & beverage experience.
    • Knowledge of proper food handling and health codes.
    • Ability to operate standard kitchen equipment safely.
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

     

    Pay Range:

    DOE - $15 - $22 per hour + Tips 

  • Head of Housekeeping

    Moose Pass, Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula
    $15.00 - $18.00 / hour + tips

    Our Twenty-Two room property keeps the housekeeping department on their toes each and every day of our busy season! Therefore it's imperative that we have a strong lead to help make sure the team is organized, efficient and that they have the training, tools and supplies they need to operate at full speed, day in and day out!

    In addition to assisting with the regular duties of housekeeping we need someone who can help schedule the staff, maintain organization of our linen service and supplies, operate efficiently within our back end reservation system and keep the crew motivated all the while.

    Perform housekeeping duties including cleaning and sanitizing of guest rooms, restroom facilities, and public areas throughout the property. Groundskeeping including landscaping, general maintenance, and light repairs.  Expect to be a Jack or Jill of all trades. While primarily a back of the house position, at times you may assist the kitchen and dining room staff as well.

    This is a small property, so all our positions are public facing at some point. All duties will include assisting guests with exceptional customer service.
     

    Job Duties:

    • Schedule staff efficiently
    • Maintain organization of our linen service
    • Ensure supplies are ordered in a timely fashion so that the housekeeping crew always has the tools & supplies needed to do their work.
    • Reconcile room reservations, check ins & check outs within our backend reservation system
    • Communicate needs cordially, yet timely to our maintenance staff to ensure repairs are carried out as needed.
    • Perform all tasks in accordance with health code standards.
    • Clean & sanitize guest rooms, restrooms, and all public areas.
    • Maintenance of lodge landscaping using basic power and hand tools.
    • Light repairs and facilities maintenance.
    • Coordinate with dining room and kitchen staff to assist with guests’ needs.


    Requirements:​

    • Knowledge and ability to use Google Docs, Sheets and other programs on smartphones/computers.
    • Able to lead a team of housekeepers.
    • Organized and able to manage inventory efficiently
    • Focused on exceptional customer service.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds routinely.

     

    Pay Range:

    $15 - $18 per hour + Tips

  • Maintenance & Facilities Crew

    Moose Pass, Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula
    $13.00 - $24.00 / hour

    Perform daily general maintenance duties including guest room repairs as needed, assisting housekeeping with waste and laundry removal, assistance in cleaning restroom facilities, and public areas throughout the property. Groundskeeping including landscaping, general maintenance, and light repairs.

    Keeping the lodge in great condition requires constant and high quality upkeep and when things do break, we need our Maintenance and Facilities Crew to be able to lead the repair efforts in an efficient and cost effective, and often creative manner.

    Expect to be a Jack or Jill of all trades. While primarily a back of the house position, at times you may assist the kitchen and dining room staff as well.

    This is a small property, so all our positions are public facing at some point. All duties will include assisting guests with exceptional customer service.


    ​Job Duties:

    • Perform all tasks in accordance with health code and safety standards.
    • Perform general upkeep and repairs as needed.
    • Maintenance of lodge landscaping using basic power and hand tools.
    • Ability to drive manual transmission truck safely, with load secured, to and from trash transfer station daily.
    • Coordinate with Housekeeping and other lodge staff to assist with maintenance and guest’s needs as they arise.


    Requirements:​

    • Experience as a general maintenance person required. Knowledge in the following areas is prefered:
      • Plumbing/Waste water​
      • Heating systems
      • General electrical systems
      • Framing/Woodworking
      • Decking/Painting/Sanding
      • Power tool operation
      • Landscaping
    • Focused on exceptional customer service.

    • Ability to lift 50 - 100 pounds routinely.​

  • Baker / Kitchen Assist

    $15.00 - $19.00 / hour + tips

    We're looking for an early riser! Someone who knows the importance and the draw of fresh baked goods drifting through the mountain air! We need someone who can prepare delicious homemade pies, cinnamon rolls, cakes, pastries and other baked goods that we've become known for over the years. Consistency and availability, (to a certain extent), is key for this part of our business to remain successful.


    Job Duties:

    • Ensure that our famously delicious cinnamon roles are available for sale daily by opening hours.
    • Supply a variety of tasty baked treats for sale at our front counter throughout the week, while maintaining a watchful eye on inventory control and waste.
    • Prepare fresh pies and other desert items to be available for lunch and dinner service.
    • Participate in preparation and execution of buffet meals for group events.
    • Maintain clean, organized baking/prep area to the highest health/safety standards.Assist in inventory control & stocking.
    • Follow all state health codes and alcohol laws.
    • Take guest food and drink orders.
    • Check lodging guests in and out when needed.
    • Cashier using POS and room management systems.

  • Guest Services & Housekeeping

    Moose Pass, Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula
    $13.00 - $18.00 / hour + tips

  • Prep Cook and Kitchen Assistant

    Moose Pass, Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula
    $13.00 - $19.00 / hour + tips

    Prepare food stocks for daily menu and catering events. Perform general cleaning duties.

    ​Job Duties:

    • Perform all tasks in accordance with health code standards.
    • Prepare basic food stocks and bakery goods.
    • Prepare and serve buffet meals for group events.
    • Dishwashing and general kitchen cleaning.
    • Assist in inventory control and stocking.
    • Work with front of house staff to ensure exceptional customer experiences.
    • May include assisting general lodge workers with a variety of tasks throughout the property.

    • Knowledge of proper food handling and health codes.
    • Ability to operate standard equipment safely.
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

  • Servers / Bartender

    Moose Pass, Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula
    $10.50 - $15.00 / hour + tips

    Dining room server, bartender, reception desk clerk. Our front of the house staff performs the full range of dining room and bar duties for diners, along with serving as a front desk clerk for lodging guests. 

    ​Job Duties:

    • Greet and welcome guests.
    • Follow all state health codes and alcohol laws.
    • Take guest food and drink orders.
    • Promote sales.
    • Assist kitchen staff with busing, cleaning, and stocking tasks.
    • Check lodging guests in and out.
    • Cashier using POS and room management systems.
    • Bartending a full bar with wine and draft beer service.

    ​​Requirements:

    • Familiar with basic drink mixes preferable, but not required.
    • Knowledge of proper food handling and health codes.
    • Knowledge of Alaska State liquor serving laws and guidelines.
    • Alcohol service training (TAMS) – provided on arrival.
    • Able to provide exceptional customer service while interacting with a wide range of domestic and international travelers.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Ability to lift 35 pounds.
