Every staff member will be provided housing. In addition, Tonglen will provide staff meals on shift and access to a kitchen to cook other meals. Local companies regularly provide complimentary tours/excursions for staff of other local businesses so this is a great perk as well.
Cafe Staff: $16-18/hr + Pooled TIPS
BONUS: An end-of-season completion bonus for staying through the duration of the employment contract is paid at $1 per hour for every hour worked over the entire season.
TIPS: Our high-end clientele at Tonglen Lake tend to be very generous and in Summer 2025 our staff earned an average of 8$/hr additional salary in gratuity.
ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION: We provide housing for staff as well as Staff Dinner each night. Most local businesses COMP staff on tours such as flightseeing (glacier landing), heli-hiking, ATV tours, zip-lining, rafting and more.
If you are interested in joining our team in remote Alaska for a seasonal summer position, please apply! We are a unique and wonderful way to spend the summer season!
Note: Though personal transportation is definitely not a requirement (we typically have a vehicle available for staff to borrow) we find our staff that have their own vehicles seem to have more experiences in Denali and around Alaska. This is fully a personal preference!
