Fountain Manager | Stanford Sierra Camp & Conference Center

Lead the store. Shape the guest experience. Live and work at Fallen Leaf Lake.

$23–$26/hour + free meals and lodging

What if your next management job came with mountain views, a lakefront setting, and a workplace where no two days look quite the same?

Stanford Sierra Camp & Conference Center is looking for a Fountain Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our unique retail and beverage operation at Fallen Leaf Lake in South Lake Tahoe. The Fountain is more than a store, it is a central part of the guest experience, offering clothing, gifts, snacks, beverages, sundries, espresso, and beverage services for conferences, weddings, and summer family camp.

This is an ideal opportunity for a hands-on, organized hospitality or retail leader who enjoys balancing people, operations, customer service, inventory, and the details that make a department run exceptionally well.

We are located on the shores of Fallen Leaf Lake right outside South Lake Tahoe, in Northern California. This position normally runs from mid February to mid-November on an annual basis and is a 9 month position. The anticipated start date is September 21, 2026 or as soon as possible. The full benefits package is described below which includes 100% employer paid year-round health insurance for the employee even though this is a 9 month position. Complimentary meals and lodging are provided on-site at our beautiful waterfront property. Seasonal working doesn't get better than this!

Each season we form a tight-knit community in our picturesque mountain environment. We look for good workers, but also good people - reliable, interesting individuals who respect themselves and others and can handle the responsibilities of working in a small, diverse community. The most successful staff members are team players who are compatible with the service industry, hard-working, enthusiastic, appreciative of our beautiful natural setting and take pride in a job well done.

What You'll Do

As Fountain Manager, you will:

  • Lead the daily operations and financial performance of the Fountain

  • Oversee purchasing, inventory, merchandising, retail sales, and cash management

  • Train, coach, schedule, and support seasonal staff across three seasons (spring, summer, & fall)

  • Create an engaging, high-quality experience for guests and employees

  • Coordinate beverage services for conferences, weddings, social hours, wine events, and other special programs

  • Oversee beer and wine sales throughout Camp and ensure responsible alcohol service

  • Build relationships with vendors, sales representatives, and delivery partners

  • Manage the department's POS and inventory systems and ensure accurate financial reporting

  • Work closely with conference, summer program, food & beverage, accounting, and HR teams

  • Step in wherever needed—whether that's helping a guest, troubleshooting the espresso machine, restocking merchandise, or supporting an event

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and genuinely enjoys working with people. You should be comfortable taking ownership of a department while also being willing to roll up your sleeves and work alongside your team.

You'll ideally bring:

  • 1–2 years of supervisory experience in retail, hospitality, food service, or a related customer-service environment

  • Cash management experience

  • Strong organizational and inventory management skills

  • Experience with merchandising or retail operations

  • The ability to lead and motivate a diverse seasonal team

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

  • The ability to prioritize when plans change and business needs evolve

  • A valid driver's license and the ability to lift and move 50–60 lbs.

Why Stanford Sierra Camp?

This isn't your typical retail management job.

You'll work at a full-service conference center and family camp nestled at Fallen Leaf Lake near the entrance to Desolation Wilderness. Our property serves up to 300 guests and 95 staff and offers recreation, lodging, dining, conferences, weddings, and family programming, all in one incredible setting.

You'll also receive:

$23–$26/hour + free meals and lodging

Plus a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, a 10% employer 401(k) contribution after eligibility, employer-paid medical, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance for the employee, professional development opportunities, and more.

Ready for a job that's anything but ordinary?

If you're an experienced hospitality or retail leader who thrives in a fast-paced, people-focused environment and would love to make Fallen Leaf Lake your workplace, we'd love to hear from you.
