Exciting opportunity for a creative professional with cooking flair to lead a small team

We’re looking for a multi-talented, hands-on Head Chef who can help us deliver the best food and guest experience in our popular seaside inn in Maine. You will be a team leader of a small, hardworking team that is responsible for dinner service and event menus for our guests celebrating special occasions. Your culinary leadership will ensure that our guests have a locally inspired, interesting and memorable food experience that caters to relaxed seaside vacationers and families. 

Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll have a hands-on approach to menu development, team management, culinary expertise, safety protocol, and client service. You'll also play a key role in helping us meet budget requirements and execute catering events. Duties include: 

• Planning menus for dinners, specials, Monday theme nights and events,

• Execute dinner service to high standards of quality and presentation ;  

• Select and develop recipes as well as standardize production recipes to ensure consistent quality and efficiency in our small kitchen; 

• Train and manage kitchen personnel through a culture of clear communication, demonstration and supervision;

• Supervise/coordinate all culinary activities before, during and after service; 

• Estimate food consumption and requisition or purchase food; 

• Ensure safe and proper equipment operation/maintenance and sanitation in the kitchen, fridges and storage areas; 

• Plan and oversee special catering events; and

• Execute staff meals as required.

Menu creation will be a collaborative process with the team and management, as we test what locals and vacationers prefer in this family oriented, coastal location. We are a small family run hotel on the coast of Maine looking for someone who is a collaborative team player with excellent skills and work ethic who can lead, cook and create.  We are hoping to create a fun, creative environment where we all support each other and deliver great outcomes.
