Lead Cook – Family Camp at Yosemite


Step into a leadership role in one of the most breathtaking settings in the world! As the Lead Cook at the entrance to Yosemite Valley, you’ll take charge of creating memorable dining experiences for families connecting with nature.

In this role, you’ll lead a dedicated team of 5–10 staff members, overseeing menu planning, food preparation, and service for approximately 150 guests daily during our peak summer season (June–August). During the shoulder seasons (May, September, and October), you’ll enjoy a more relaxed pace while preparing meals for smaller groups.

This is a fantastic opportunity to build your leadership skills in high-volume catering and gain hands-on experience in a commercial kitchen—all while living and working in a truly unique environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design and execute creative, crowd-pleasing menus

  • Lead, train, and support a kitchen team of 5–10 staff

  • Oversee preparation and service for breakfast, lunch, and dinner

  • Maintain high standards of food quality, safety, and efficiency

What We Offer:

  • Approximately 50 hours per week, including 10 hours of overtime paid at 1.5x your hourly rate

San Jose Family Camp

San Jose family camp is run by the City of San Jose. It brings families to the Sierra Nevada's near Yosemite to connect with each other and nature. Our job is to help guest have the best time of their lives in a safe and fun environment. Staff live on site and are provided meals as part of their employment. Staff five days a week and have time to visit the Yosemite and make new life long friends.
