Line Cook Responsibilities 

Scratch Cafe seeking passionate LINE COOKS who are efficient, clean, energetic, motivated individuals.

Must be experienced in egg cookery, which includes flipping eggs to order in saute pans without breakage.

Must be able to work weekends, holidays and during peak seasons.

Responsibilities include:

• Prepping and stocking cook line

• Daily inventory

• Cooking menu items as ordered by guests for breakfast, lunch and brick oven pizza

• Ensuring that all food stock gets rotated properly

• Daily cleaning and maintenance of kitchen and storage areas

• Assisting dishwashers and prep cooks when needed

• Cleaning all areas used

• Adhering to company policies and guidelines without wavering

• Is able to stand in one spot for long periods of time in hot and cold environments without complaining

• Familiar with Mediterranean and European Cuisine

• Has Fine Dining Experience

• Is eager to set goals and reach high expectations

• Is comfortable cooking real, made-from scratch- food from the ground up as opposed to pre-processed, pre-boxed or pre-bagged food items

• Has a high regard for local farmers and the product they work hard to produce and is overly-cautious about being unnecessarily wasteful

This position is NOT a management position. It is for individuals who are experienced working a commercial cook line.

This position is for early risers.  Typical schedule is 5-6 days per week beginning as early as 5:30am, 40 hours per week.  

Dishwasers:

Responsibilities:

• Washing dishes, pots and pans, silverware, glasses and mugs

• Maintaining a clean and sanitary dish-pit at all times

• Assisting with daily prep responsibilities as needed

• Assisting with daily and weekly cleaning tasks

• Assisting cooks with daily break-down and clean-up of kitchen, which includes washing floor mats, sweeping and mopping kitchen floor and throwing garbage

Housing

Currently, we offer a shared apartment for 2-3 employees.  It is a one bedroom, dorm-room style, so if the potential candidate is not comfortable with sharing space this position would not be a good fit.  The apartment is approximately 900 square feet with a bedroom, bathroom, laundry room, kitchen, sitting room with a tv and wifi.  The apartment is located 20 miles north of the cafe located on 6.5 acres of wooded property.  Personal transportation is required.

There is no smoking or vaping allowed in the apartment or within 500 feet of the dwelling.

Rent is $200 per month.  Sam's Graces does NOT provide food or living provisions.  Petoskey, Michigan is a small town but most modern living amenities are available.

Sam's Graces Cafe operates year round.  We offer 4-6 months contracts.  Priority is given to candidates who are able to stay the duration of their contract without scheduling conflicts.

Bonuses and raises are given based on performance, dedication and work ethic.
