Getting Here and Getting Around

Arriving at the Ranch

  • By Air — Fly into one of the nearby airports for convenient access:

    • Missoula International Airport (MSO): The most popular choice with the best flight options, about 1 hour and 30 minutes (roughly 80–90 miles) drive to the ranch—perfect for easier connections and more schedules.

    • Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN): Offers additional flights and is approximately 2 hours away (around 110–120 miles), great if you're coming from farther afield.

If you don't have your own transportation, we're happy to coordinate a ride for you from the airport once you arrive—just let us know your flight details during the hiring process, and we'll arrange pickup to get you straight to the ranch safely and comfortably.

  • By Car — Driving is the most flexible way to reach us:

    • Detailed directions are provided upon hiring to ensure a smooth arrival. Expect a scenic drive through valleys and foothills, with the final stretch on ranch roads (standard vehicles handle it well, but watch for gravel sections).

    • Plan extra time for weather, especially in spring, and enjoy the beautiful Montana landscape along the way!

Getting Around Once Here

We're about 20 minutes from the closest town of Deer Lodge, a quaint historic community with essentials like groceries, pharmacies, and basic dining. Public transportation is minimal in this rural area, so we strongly recommend bringing or acquiring a reliable vehicle for full independence—it's key for errands, days off, or exploring the region. Many employees love the freedom of cruising Montana's open roads to nearby hot springs, national forests, or bigger adventures in places like Butte or Anaconda (30–45 minutes away).

On the ranch itself, most daily life—employee housing, dining, work areas, trails, fishing, and recreation—happens on-site and is easily accessible by foot, bike, or provided ranch transport (If applicable).

We're committed to making your journey seamless—reach out during onboarding for personalized guidance, airport coordination, or any questions. Once you're here, the real adventure begins!

For Fun

Montana is an outdoor paradise, and working at Rock Creek Cattle Company puts you right in the heart of it! Our historic ranch offers endless opportunities for adventure right on the property. Staff often enjoy these activities during downtime or organized outings, soaking in the mountain views, wildlife sightings (elk, bears, deer, and more), and that unbeatable Montana freedom.

When you're ready for bigger explorations on your days off, the surrounding area delivers even more thrills:

  • Local Adventures — Hit nearby trails in the Deer Lodge Mountains or Beaverhead-Deer Lodge National Forest for hiking, mountain biking, or horseback riding.

    • Explore historic spots like Garnet Ghost Town, fish local waters, or try shooting sports and archery—perfect for unwinding after a shift.

  • Road Trips — Drive to iconic destinations for epic getaways:

    • Yellowstone National Park — About 3.5–4 hours away (roughly 200–235 miles depending on the entrance), where you can chase geysers, spot wildlife, and hike jaw dropping landscapes.

    • Glacier National Park — Around 3.5–4 hours (approximately 200–210 miles), with stunning alpine scenery, Going-to-the-Sun Road drives, lakes, and endless trails.

Seasonal staff often bond over these shared experiences, carpooling for group trips, swapping stories around campfires, or planning spontaneous outings. The remote ranch setting fosters tight-knit friendships—many team members build lifelong connections while making memories in one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Whether it's a quiet evening fishing on the ranch, a weekend summit hike, or a full-day escape to a national park, your time off here is filled with pure Montana magic. Come play hard and make it unforgettable!
