About Roche Harbor Resort
Roche Harbor is more than a resort: it's a scenic country village on the shorelines of the Salish Sea filled with pocket neighborhoods, restaurants, shops, marine activities and hiking trails.
At Roche Harbor we work together, live together and play together. You'll have the opportunity to meet people from all over the world, experience new cultures, and make connections for your next grand adventure in life.
We believe our employees are the most important part of our success, and we try hard to make them feel like part of our family. Most managers work side-by-side with their crew members, rather than in some stuffy office. If you're looking for an alternative to corporate-run operations, Roche Harbor is the place for you!
The Employee Experience
Most of our employees are from far away lands. We strive to make the employee experience the best that it can be. We host Meet and Greets throughout the season, BINGO and dinner nights, Pilates, whale watching/kayaking tours, arts and craft afternoons, Pickleball/Soccer/Basketball Tournaments. Each season we add more activities so staff can be involved and meet new people.
If you hear the outdoors calling your name, Roche Harbor is the place to be! We have many trails around the resort to go exploring on. You can rent kayaks and paddle boards, play tennis or pickle ball, and we even have a Bocce Ball Court.
Ideal Candidate
Our guests come back to Roche Harbor because our crew members create lasting memories with fun and friendly attitudes around the resort. We go out of our way to exceed our guests' expectations. We are first to speak and say "good morning" while walking the cobblestone paths, and show genuine interest in our guests' experiences during their stays. If you have a passion for serving guests and enjoy having fun while making money, Roche Harbor is the perfect place.
Room and Board
Our employee village is a real highlight of the work experience at Roche Harbor. We offer limited on-site housing for employees who are at least 18 years of age or older. Most facilities are dormitory style (non-coed, 2 persons per room w/ bunk beds) with a limited availability of couples' units. Please note that pets are not permitted in employee housing.
All units have access to free wi-fi, laundry, computer stations, shared kitchens, and a rec room.
Housing cost starts at $80/week for dormitory-style and tops out at $180/week per person for couples' housing (limited). A security deposit of $400.00 (per person) is required - payable at move-in or can be taken out each pay period at $50 intervals. A cleaning fee, worth one weeks rent, will be deducted from your deposit at the end of the season.
We provide all normal bedding, kitchen supplies and furniture. Some units have full kitchens, some have a refrigerator/microwave, and the Rec Room has a full kitchen for anyone to use. A fully stocked grocery store is available on site within walking distance from the employee village. Shuttle services to Town are available to all employees for the cost of $25.00 for a ticket book good for 10 round trips.
Employee Perks
As if living and working at a national monument wasn't enough, we offer many other fun things for every employee:
- Competitive wages
- 20-35% off food at our restaurants
- 20% off all retail shops, spa and grocery store (does not apply for alcohol or tobacco products)
- 25% off whale watch and kayak tours after your 1 free whale watching or kayaking experience
- Deeply discounted hotel rooms for friends and family (space available basis)
- Free use of outdoor pool / tennis courts
Getting Here and Getting Around
Even though we're on an island, it's easy to get here: just six turns from Seattle. Drive 90 minutes north of SeaTac and then hop on a ferry ($75+/round trip with vehicle). Bam, that's it. The island is only 55 square miles so you're never far from anything, and getting to Friday Harbor is a quick 20 minute journey by car or shuttle. Note: Reservations are now 'required' when traveling by car to the San Juan Islands. Reservations are not required for "walk-on passengers."
While many employees bring a car with them, most don't, because so much is offered right here at Roche Harbor. And with so many friends in the village, it's always easy to buddy-up for a ride somewhere.
For Fun
The San Juan Islands are the country's newest national monument because there's so much natural beauty to explore. Hiking, biking and running on the islands' trails and rural roads is common, and if you're looking for a unique experience try some of the best sea kayaking and whale watching in the country. Exploring these wonders while hanging out with new friends and learning about other places to travel throughout the world is what you'll do in your downtime. Summer 2024 featured crew members from Slovakia, Czech Republic, United States, Poland, Slovenia, Colombia, Philippines, Mexico, Jamaica, Taiwan, England, Australia, Thailand and Mongolia.
