About Rio Piedra Plantation
Rio Piedra is a family-owned lodge founded over 25 years ago in southwest Georgia. In addition to offering our upscale clientele with great hunting, dining, and accommodations, our relatively small size- we typically cap occupancy at 35 guests per night- affords us the opportunity to build deep and lasting relationships with our guests.
It’s because of this focus on long-term relationships that we strive to create an experience that is about much more than just hunting. Located on the banks of the Flint River and surrounded by long leaf pine forests and majestic live oaks draped in Spanish moss, Rio Piedra provides guests with a reprieve from the rigors of today’s modern world. Between this setting and the attentive hospitality of our excellent staff, we create an increasingly rare opportunity for our guests to be in the moment with close friends, family, and colleagues.
Do you have a passion for genuine hospitality and find fulfillment in helping others to create lasting memories? We are always looking to expand our team and are happy to offer seasonal positions and occasional year-round opportunities.
The Employee Experience
At peak season our team numbers between 60 and 70. We value hard work, a team spirit, and a genuine focus on making our guests feel at home. This often requires an innate desire to go the extra mile whether it be to support a team member or make the effort to get to know a guest so you can better anticipate their needs. We typically schedule 40 hours per week (sometimes more if desired) and strive for 2 consecutive days off, though this may vary based on demand.
Ideal Candidate
Knowing almost every role at Rio Piedra is customer-facing, exceptional interpersonal skills are a must - it’s imperative each team member be outgoing and have a genuine desire to create a personal connection with each guest. Since the pace at times can be quite fast, strong organizational, listening, and communication skills are important traits that every team member must possess. These qualities, paired with a positive, can-do attitude and a commitment to reliability, are essential characteristics that each team member must exhibit.
Room and Board
Employee housing is available and is located approximately 10 to 15 miles from the property in/near the town of Camilla, GA. Personal transportation is required. Housing cost $150/week (less for certain positions) and includes utilities (water, gas, electric, internet). Our goal is for each team member to have their own bedroom, though there is a small possibility you may have a roommate. Meals are provided on those days/shifts that you are working.
Employee Perks
- Competitive Pay
- Affordable housing that includes internet & utilities
- Free meals while working
- Company funded outings
- Additional role specific perks
- Discounted Orvis® apparel and accessories
Getting Here and Getting Around
Because housing is located at least 10 miles from the property, all staff must bring their own vehicle for transportation to/from work and for their convenience in traveling around the surrounding area on days off. If company vehicles are not being used for business purposes, occasional use of vehicles can be arranged for group excursions.
For Fun
On your off time, we encourage you to visit the surrounding area. You will be living a short 30-minute drive from historic Thomasville, GA, a thriving town near the GA/FL border filled with unique shops and restaurants. For those that love the coast, we’re roughly 1.5 hours from Florida’s Gulf coast which allows for both day trips and the occasional overnight stay. On those days you’re looking to just relax and enjoy some downtime, canoe, and kayak trips can be arranged for trips down the Flint River.
