Server at the Historic Red Onion Saloon

The Red Onion Saloon in Skagway, Alaska, is a historic landmark and one of the town’s most popular attractions. Built in 1898 during the height of the Klondike Gold Rush, it originally operated as a luxurious saloon, dance hall, and bordello serving miners on their way to seek fortune in the Yukon.

Today, it operates as a vibrant restaurant, bar, and museum that leans into its colorful past, featuring period-appropriate décor and costumed staff who bring the building’s history to life.

We are looking for high-energy, experienced Servers to join our team for the upcoming summer season. At the Red Onion Saloon, "fast-paced" isn't just a buzzword, it’s our reality. You will be the face of our restaurant: responsible for delivering exceptional service, maintaining a positive energy, and ensuring every guest leaves happy.

Key Responsibilities

·         Provide attentive, upbeat service that keeps guests comfortable and engaged, and creates an unforgettable experience.

·         Comfortable managing a high-volume section with grace and precision, from initial greeting to final payment.

·         Develop strong knowledge of menus, beers, and retail items to confidently answer guest questions and make recommendations.

·         Guide guests through food and beverage menus with knowledge and enthusiasm.

·         Maintain accurate cash handling and complete end-of-shift checkout procedures according to company standards.

·         Keep server stations stocked, organized, and ready for fast-paced service.

·         Uphold high standards of cleanliness and organization throughout the restaurant.

·         Serve alcoholic beverages responsibly and in accordance with company policies and state regulations.

·         Communicate clearly, respectfully, and positively with guests and coworkers, contributing to a fun and supportive work environment.

Qualifications

  • 21+ years of age

  • 3+ years’ experience serving in a high-volume, fast-paced establishment.

  • Ability to stay on your feet for long shifts and lift up to 30 lbs.

  • Possess strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Flexible and adaptable to quickly changing situations.

  • Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively with coworkers.

  • Charismatic with outstanding interpersonal skills.

  • Comfortable working in period costume.

  •  Punctual

  • Certifications for TAPs Alcohol Professionals Certification and Food Handler’s Permit as required under Alaska Law. (Red Onion will reimburse)
