Executive Chef & Culinary Program Director
Petty Creek Mountain Ranch | Alberton, Montana

Petty Creek Mountain Ranch is seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial chef to lead and grow our culinary program at a private executive retreat and leadership development ranch in the mountains of Western Montana.

Nestled on a working cattle ranch just outside Missoula, our property hosts leadership teams, executives, ministries, and organizations seeking meaningful experiences, exceptional hospitality, and authentic connection. Food plays a central role in that experience.

We're looking for someone who is excited not only to cook exceptional meals, but to help shape the future of a growing culinary program rooted in Montana's agricultural heritage and farm-to-table philosophy.

What You'll Do

  • Lead all culinary operations for retreat guests

  • Design seasonal menus highlighting Montana ranching, agriculture, and local ingredients

  • Source products and build relationships with local farmers, ranchers, producers, and purveyors

  • Prepare and execute meals for groups typically ranging from 10–20 guests

  • Manage food procurement, inventory, ordering, and kitchen organization

  • Collaborate with leadership to create memorable culinary experiences for retreats and special events

  • Help develop and expand the ranch's long-term culinary vision

  • Provide input on future kitchen expansion and culinary facility development

  • Maintain high standards of hospitality, presentation, cleanliness, and food safety

Who We're Looking For

  • Professional chef with experience in hospitality, retreats, resorts, lodges, ranches, or private dining

  • Passion for farm-to-table cuisine and local sourcing

  • Self-starter who enjoys building systems and creating new experiences

  • Comfortable working independently and leading culinary operations

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Appreciation for hospitality, relationship-building, and guest experience

  • Excited about Montana's outdoor lifestyle and ranch culture

What Makes This Opportunity Different

This is more than a chef position.

You'll have the opportunity to help build a destination culinary program from the ground up while working alongside a team committed to leadership development, hospitality, and meaningful experiences.

Compensation & Perks

  • Competitive compensation based on experience

  • Seasonal schedule with strong work-life balance

  • Potential on-site housing available

  • Opportunity for future leadership growth as the culinary program expands

  • Work on a beautiful Montana cattle ranch surrounded by wilderness

  • Close proximity to Missoula, the Lolo National Forest, Glacier National Park, world-class fly fishing, hunting, hiking, and outdoor recreation

If you're passionate about creating exceptional food experiences and want to help shape the future of a unique Montana retreat destination, we'd love to hear from you.

To apply, please send your resume, a brief introduction, and any relevant culinary portfolio or social media links.
