Cook:
The Omega Kitchen is a large full-scale food production facility. Cooks are responsible for the production and execution of all meals and the necessary components. This will be done with support from the Chef de Cuisine, Sous Chefs and Executive Chef. It is the Cook’s responsibility to maintain a clean and safe kitchen at all times. This includes following New York State Department of Health codes, as well as all H.A.C.C.P. regulations for storage and cooling.
Essential Functions
Assist the Sous Chef and other cooks in the preparation and production of individual meals (this could mean breakfast, lunch, dinner, garde manger, or prep)
Ability to be flexible in learning every station and all areas of production need to produce every item for all meals
Prepare foodstuffs for meals
Label and store prepared items in proper location
Providing creative input about meals
Provide support to other kitchen stations as needed
Adhere to the Omega Core Values
Working with knives, equipment with moving blades, open stovetop flames, hot ovens, steam and oil
Regularly lift/carry/move heavy items
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
Dining Services Server: The Omega Dining Hall is a large, full-scale, food-production facility. We produce and serve up to 2,500 mostly plant-based meals per day as well as breads and desserts for both the Dining Hall and the Omega Café. Servers report directly to the Shift-Co on duty. They are responsible for positive guest interactions and the service, presentation, and clean up of the Main Dining Room, Staff Dining Room, and Faculty Dining Room.
Essential Functions
During meal service, be present and attentive to his or her station, general support tasks, and guest needs at all times
Tend to routine deep cleaning
Work around knives and hot steam; carry hot pans
Regularly lift/carry/move heavy items
Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
Check-in with Shift-Co immediately upon arrival to shift, when returning from break, after completion of each task, and whenever clarification is necessary
Integrate Omega’s core values and manager feedback into work performance
Be proactive in remaining productive and communicating notable, work-related matters to Shift-Co
Maintain professional appearance by tending to regular grooming and following Food & Beverage dress code
Attend mandatory meetings
Maintain a professional work environment within the communal setting
Maintain and respect healthy boundaries with managers, coworkers, guests, and community members while on shift
Move with focus and intention through the kitchen and main dining room
Prioritize the service experience by maintaining a flexible and realistic work availability
Dishwasher:
• Maintain & clear dishes from dish return window during meals.
• Maintain & clear dish wash counter area during the shift.
• Rinse and rack items to be sent through machine.
• Operate dish machine as directed by Supervisor.
• Replenish soap and rinse as directed by Supervisor.
• Return cleaned items to correct storage spaces.
• Organize storage spaces as needed.
• Alert Supervisor to any issues preventing them from completing job assignments.
• Wash, rinse & sanitize large kitchen items in pot wash area as directed by Supervisor.
• Maintaining cleanliness of dish area & pot wash.
• Check in with Dining Hall & Kitchen management before closing down the dishwasher area.
• Turn off, drain, disassemble & clean dish machine as directed by Supervisor.
• Clear, wash & sanitize dishwasher counter area.
• Remove mats, sweep & mop dish wash area.
• Provide support to other kitchen stations as needed (including Dining hall and Kitchen Prep).
• Requires working around knives and hot steam; carrying hot pans.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Compensation
Seasonal staff work full-time, between early May through the late October. Seasonal staff receive a compensation package that includes:

Work Details
• These positions function in Omega’s Kitchen/Dining Hall on the Omega campus.
• These are full-time positions.
• Food & Beverage staff are expected to have availability to work on weekdays and at least one weekend day each week. Schedules may vary based on operational needs, and flexibility is essential to ensure adequate coverage during peak times and events.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to frequently move items that weigh 30-50 pounds for various needs.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
• Ability to traverse a hilly campus in diverse weather conditions.
• Ability to position self to perform diverse job tasks as necessary.
• Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand, and ability to exchange accurate information in these situations.
• Ability to observe details at close range.
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness, and in a safe manner.
*This compensation package is at minimum equivalent to the New York State minimum wage.
