The Opportunity

Moonlight Basin is seeking dependable, hardworking Field Operations Crew members to help maintain our grounds year-round. In the summer, you'll help maintain the lodge, entryway, residential sub-divisions, and golf course grounds — from mowing and planting to sod and irrigation work. As winter arrives, you'll transition to snow removal duties, keeping walkways, entries, and outdoor areas safe and accessible throughout the season. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys varied outdoor work and wants a single seasonal role that carries them from summer landscaping into winter snow removal.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Summer — Landscaping Duties

• Assist crew members with the application of fertilizers and chemical applications under the supervision of a licensed applicator.

• Assist with a variety of projects related to maintenance, erosion matting, hydro-seeding, laying or hand-watering new sod, seeding greens or tees, leveling irrigation heads, and planting flowers, shrubs, and trees.

• Perform mowing, tree and shrub trimming, and mulch and flower bed maintenance.

• Assist the golf maintenance team with other responsibilities on and off the golf course, including seasonal maintenance practices.

Winter — Snow Removal Duties

• Shovel snow from walkways, entries, and other designated areas.

• Safely operate small equipment as needed to complete snow removal tasks.

• Perform daily snow removal responsibilities in all weather conditions.

General Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude while working around members and guests.

• Ensure all tools, equipment, vehicles, and supplies are properly used, maintained, and stored.

• Maintain positive interactions with club members and guests, providing a high level of customer service.

• Perform any and all duties as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent, Grounds Foreman, or other members of the senior management team, as deemed appropriate.

• Ability to follow written and oral directions from a supervisor or manager.

• Maintains a professional, positive attitude while working around members and guests, year-round.

• Reliable and adaptable, comfortable shifting between different types of seasonal outdoor work.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required.

• Ability to safely operate hand tools and power equipment related to landscaping and grounds maintenance.

• Knowledge of tools, methods, and materials used in landscape maintenance work.

• Prior experience in the landscaping and/or turf industry preferred.

• Prior experience operating outdoor power equipment, including walk-behind mowers, chainsaws, and trimmers, preferred.

• Knowledge of the safe and efficient operation of small snow removal equipment.

• Ability to understand Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and other safety instructions.

• Ability to perform daily responsibilities in all weather conditions, in both summer and winter.

• Must be dependable and available to work on property on weekends, nights, and/or holidays based on business demands, including on-call availability for winter snow removal shifts.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Working Conditions

This position works outdoors year-round, with duties and hours shifting by season. During the summer landscaping season, work hours typically begin at 7:00 AM and end between 3:00 and 7:00 PM; conditions are typical of Big Sky summer months, including rain, sleet, hail, wind, and sun. During the winter snow removal season, shifts are on-call, generally occurring between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM, five days per week, in conditions including snow, ice, wind, and freezing temperatures.

When indoors, the work environment is characterized by moderate temperatures and noise levels. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Physical Requirements

• This is a physically demanding position. The employee is required to stand, walk, squat, shovel, and operate power tools for extended periods, lift heavy objects routinely, and perform repetitive tasks with few breaks.

• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds on a regular basis.

• Ability to work outdoors for long periods of time, year-round, sometimes in inclement weather.

• Ability to bend at the waist, twist the upper body, kneel, crawl, climb, reach above the shoulders, and flex or extend the ankle, knee, and hip joints, or assume other physical positions associated with landscaping tasks and snow removal.

• Interact with others, requiring the employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information.
