The Opportunity

The Housekeeping Manager oversees all aspects of residential housekeeping operations, including private residence cleaning, laundry, supply inventory, scheduling, training, discipline, and inspection of residence properties, including off-season cleaning projects. The Manager is responsible for hiring, training, coaching, and supervising Housekeeping Associates and creating weekly schedules, all while maintaining a positive and friendly attitude with member owners and Associates. This role serves as the primary liaison between member owners and the housekeeping team.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Department Operations

  • Communicate additions or changes to assignment sheets as they arise throughout the shift.

  • Inspect homes cleaned by assigned housekeepers using the designated checklist; contact housekeepers directly and relay any deficiencies to be corrected.

  • Update home status after approving cleanliness and condition in accordance with departmental standards.

Supervision of Department Staff

  • Identify staffing needs, obtain approval for additional positions, and work with Human Resources to source and hire candidates.

  • Interview, screen, and complete reference checks for candidates, seeking approval to hire.

  • Conduct weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance reviews.

  • Address performance issues as they arise.

Quality Control

  • Report maintenance repairs and submit to management; contact Engineering directly for urgent repairs.

  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisor or lead housekeeping position.

  • An additional 3 years of general housekeeping experience.

  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, requirements, and use of equipment.

  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling.

  • Ability to input and access information in the property management system and other computer systems.

  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, nights, holidays, and weekends when needed.

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required (parking tickets are acceptable).

  • Ability to pass a criminal background screen.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of member owner and guest information.


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervises Housekeeping Associates, including hiring, training, coaching, scheduling, performance reviews, and disciplinary action when necessary.

Working Conditions

This position is approximately 70% in the field and 30% in the office. Work hours will vary depending on location. Conditions in the field are typical of those found at a private residential club, including frequently going indoors and outdoors, exposure to weather, and working on uneven and sometimes slippery surfaces. When in the office, the work environment is characterized as a typical office setting, with moderate temperatures and noise levels. Physical Requirements

  • Interact with others, requiring the employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information.

  • Operate vehicles, cleaning equipment, computers, telephones, and other office equipment.

  • See and read computer monitors and documents.

  • Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.

  • This is a physically demanding job requiring the ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and perform repetitive tasks.
