Located in the heart of historic downtown, Lake View Hotel is the oldest continuously operated hotel on Mackinac Island.

Mackinac Island is the number 1 tourist destination in the Midwest. No cars, just bicycle, foot and horse traffic. It is like going back in time. With over 10,000 visitors a day it is great place to live and play.

About Lake View Hotel

Amenities include 85 guest rooms, banquet and conference facilities, the island's most popular restaurant, Goodfellow's, which includes the Sports Bar, The Italian Chophouse and the Wine Cellar, and Mackinac Outfitter Sportswear Clothing shop.  Our impressive four-story atrium features the island's only indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, and hot-tub.  Our long porch right off Main Street is very popular with our guests as well as the island's tourists.

The Lake View operates between May 1st and October 28h.  Employment opportunities begin on April 15th.

Ideal Candidate

Room and Board

Housing is available and consists of both dormitory style rooms and shared apartments.  All units require a bedroom with a roommate.

All units are non-smoking and pets are not permitted at anytime. All housing has cooking areas, coin laundry, Cable TV, and wireless internet is available.

Rent is figured on a weekly basis. Employees are responsible for their own sheets, linens, and personal items.

Getting Here and Getting Around

Mackinac Island is located between Michigan's Upper and Lower Peninsulas. For those who arrive by automobile there is frequent ferry service to the Island from both Mackinaw City and St. Ignace with ample seasonal parking facilities.

Commercial airlines from Detroit provide daily service to the Pellston Airport just 12 miles south of the Mackinaw City. Taxi service between the Pellston Airport and Mackinac City ferry docks is available.

There are no cars on Mackinac Island. Transportation is by horse drawn carriages or bicycles. Consider bringing your bike!

Guest Services

Bellman/Dock Porter

Mackinac Island
Our porters are the first interaction our guests have with Lake View Hotel, meeting every boat upon arrival and transporting luggage to and from the hotel and ferry lines. Porters ensure the guest experience starts, and ends with a great experience. Must be able to lift 50 lbs or more consistently all day. Must be able to ride a bicycle. Great personality is a must. Must speak and understand English.

Front Desk Associate

The Front Desk Agent acts as the face of the hotel and represents the hotel to the guest throughout all stages of the guest's stay, providing the guests with the first impression of a hotel as well as the final goodbye upon departure. Front Desk Agents have responsibilities that range from checking the guests in/out, reporting any problems/needs to maintenance, making reservations and collecting payment. Applicants should show strong interpersonal and administrative skills, great references, and a history of front desk agent or related hospitality experience while a bonus are not required. You should be open to working any shift or day.

Front Desk Supervisor

The front office Supervisor should have experience working in the Hospitality industry, specifically in Front Desk, and Reservations departments. Must possess strong self-motivation, and time management skills. The front office Supervisor with be responsible for maintaining good relations with guests, handling any concerns of issues ensuring a good experience by the hotel guest, while ensuring the front desk, and reservations departments run smoothly.

Housekeeper/Room Attendant

Mackinac Island
The Room Attendant ensures the cleanliness of guest rooms, bathrooms and hallways. They provide superlative service to hotel guests and co-workers in performing all housekeeping duties. Responsibilities: Follow detailed cleaning worksheet for each guest room cleaning Change bedding and make beds as directed Vacuum floors and wash carpets and rugs Empty wastepaper baskets Clean and polish furniture, fixtures, and wooden surfaces Replenish any complimentary items in the room Respond and attend to any requests by the guest. Qualifications: Must be detail-oriented Must be able to communicate clearly with managers and other personnel Must be able to understand instruction in English

Laundry Attendant

The laundry attendant is responsible for washing, drying and folding guest room linens. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, able to lift up to or exceeding 50 pounds.

Night Auditor

Mackinac Island
The Night Auditor is responsible for ensuring all reports are correct, and balanced daily. Ensuring the safety and security of guest through out the evening. This is an overnight shift so the ideal candidate is a night owl, with a strong attention to detail.

Public Area Attendant

Mackinac Island
The Public area attendant is responsible for the cleanliness of the front of the house. Ensuring the lobby, pool, hallways, and washrooms are spotless and shine, while interacting with guests. Helping out in Laundry and guest rooms as needed. Must speak fluent English
