Winter Seasonal Café & Skate Attendant

Killington, Vermont | Winter 2026–2027 Season

The Karr Group, Killington’s largest hospitality management company, is seeking friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic team members to join us at Mad Hatter’s Scoops for the 2026–2027 winter season!

Spend your winter in Killington, Vermont, one of the Northeast’s premier ski destinations, and enjoy everything the area has to offer.

As a Café & Skate Attendant, you’ll help create a fun and welcoming experience for our guests. You’ll scoop ice cream, create sundaes and milkshakes, make fresh waffles, and prepare coffee and hot chocolate. You’ll also greet guests, answer questions, process payments, and keep the shop clean and organized.

In addition to your café responsibilities, you’ll help operate the ice-skating rink located alongside Mad Hatter’s Scoops. Duties will include assisting guests with skate rentals, helping maintain the rink area, and supporting day-to-day operations while the rink is open to the public. This is a hands-on, varied role that’s perfect for someone who enjoys interacting with guests, working outdoors, and pitching in wherever needed!

🍦 What You’ll Do

Café & Customer Service

• Greet guests with a friendly, positive attitude and provide excellent customer service.

• Scoop and serve ice cream while maintaining attractive, consistent presentations.

• Prepare ice cream sundaes, milkshakes, and other menu items.

• Make and serve fresh waffles, coffee, and hot chocolate.

• Answer questions about flavors, menu items, and ingredients.

• Help guests choose flavors and make recommendations.

• Accurately take and prepare customer orders.

• Operate the cash register and process cash and card payments.

• Restock ice cream, toppings, cups, cones, beverages, and other supplies.

• Assist with opening and closing duties.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized café.

• Follow food safety and sanitation procedures.

Ice-Skating Rink Operations

• Assist guests with skate rentals, including helping them select the appropriate skate size and managing rental checkouts and returns.

• Provide friendly, attentive customer service and answer general guest questions.

• Support the rink’s daily operations while it is open to the public.

• Keep the skate rental area and surrounding guest spaces clean, organized, and ready for use.

• Monitor skate inventory and other supplies, reporting shortages or maintenance needs as they arise.

• Follow established safety procedures and promptly communicate guest concerns, safety hazards, or operational issues to management.

Teamwork & General Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with coworkers to provide efficient, friendly service during busy winter periods.

• Assist with cleaning, restocking, and maintaining shared work areas.

• Help with a variety of café and rink tasks as needed to support daily operations.

• Contribute to a welcoming, enjoyable experience for all guests.

• Previous customer service, food service, or hospitality experience is preferred but not required.

• A positive attitude and willingness to learn.

• Reliable, dependable, and punctual, with good attendance.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.

• Comfortable handling cash and processing customer payments.

• Ability to work well as part of a diverse team.

• Willingness to assist with a variety of responsibilities, including café service, skate rentals, cleaning, restocking, and opening and closing duties.

• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak winter periods.

• Comfortable working in a winter environment and assisting with outdoor guest activities as needed.

• Available for the full winter season, from late November 2026 through April 4, 2027.
