Great Turtle Brewery and Distillery is one of the newest and busiest restaurants and the only brewery on charming Mackinac Island! Located downtown in the middle of all the fudge and fun, The Great Turtle Brewery and Distillery delights guests with an upbeat, fun casual atmosphere, delicious food, signature cocktail flights, our very own craft beer and spirits, and on most days live entertainment!

Mackinac Island is located between Michigan's upper and lower peninsulas. The Island's natural beauty has been preserved as automobiles are not allowed and 80% of the island is state park. Living on Mackinac Island you will be surrounded by woods and water, yet just a quick ferry ride and short drive from interesting towns and cities in Michigan! The nearest airport is just a 30 minute drive.

Join the hottest new restaurant on Mackinac Island!  Located in the heart of downtown Great Turtle Brewery and Distillery opened in 2020 to rave reviews!  As the only brewery on this award-winning resort island, Great Turtle promises a fast-paced, fun-filled summer of delighting guests with casual, delicious food, cocktail flights and five of our very own craft beers.  The family-friendly Great Turtle features live music of local artists six nights a week in season. Join our team and be a part of this operation designed to create exceptional experiences!

The Employee Experience

If you excel in a fast-paced environment as part of a team focused on one goal - delighting our guests - this is the place for you! You will have the opportunity to create a lot of smiles and the potential for outstanding earnings on a most beautiful, natural island. As part of The Great Turtle you will work with individuals from all over the US as well as the world. We require a positive, cooperative, energetic attitude and willingness to go the extra distance to delight our guests!

In your free time, you may find yourself biking and hiking beautifully wooded trails, kayaking on the Great Lakes that surround Mackinac Island, and hanging out with newfound friends.  

Ideal Candidate

Ideal candidates will be motivated, enthusiastic and focused on delighting our guests. We require teamwork to create an outstanding dining experience. Prior restaurant experience is helpful, but not required. A positive attitude is mandatory.

Room and Board

Housing is set up apartment style, typically two or three bedrooms per apartment with 2 individuals per bedroom.  Each apartment includes restroom(s), kitchen, living room, wi-fi and access to a washer and dryer.  Housing is $125 per week.

Employee Perks

Staff discounts are available at our restaurants and fudge shops.  Bikes are available for purchase or season-long rental at discounted rates.

Getting Here and Getting Around

Individuals take a ferry to Mackinac Island from either Mackinaw City or St. Ignace.

Mackinac Island is small and quaint - everything is within walking or biking distance. Bring your own bike or buy one on The Island.

For Fun

Mackinac Island is an outdoor enthusiast's dream. Eighty percent of the island is state park so there is an abundance of trails for hiking, biking and exploring.

Boating, swimming and fishing are among the many water activities right outside your door. Enjoy frisbee. basketball or soccer? Join fellow staff in Marquette Park or Great Turtle Park for a fun game.

During your time on Mackinac Island, you will meet guests and fellow staff from all over the world. Our team typically consists of individuals from Europe, Asia, Jamaica as well as the USA.

There is a historic theater on Mackinac Island showing movies. Art and recreation classes are held by the Mackinac Arts Council, and Concerts in the Park are performed all summer.

A short ferry boat ride to the mainland will allow for activities such as movies, bowling, site seeing and various festivals throughout the summer.

Head north to enjoy the natural beauty of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Travel about an hour north to visit Canada.  (Passport required.) Head south to enjoy the beauty of Lake Huron to the east or Lake Michigan and the Sand Dunes to the west.
