Unspoiled and Unforgettable

We are a family-owned and operated resort. We operate as a resort and campground in the summer, and a nordic ski center in the winter. We typically employ a total of 6-8 employees, and value an upbeat work environment. All of our employees are cross-trained in multiple work areas, with job descriptions being tailored to each employee's strengths.

We are located 27 miles outside of Grand Marais in Northern Minnesota. We are the only resort on Flour Lake, and have direct access from Flour Lake to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.

About Golden Eagle Lodge

We are located 27 miles up the Gunflint Trail on the quiet shores of Flour Lake, within 2 miles of the BWCA and 3 miles from the Canadian border. Fishing, canoeing, hiking, and skiing are right out your back door! Come enjoy our beautiful wilderness environment with modern comforts and great job opportunities. We are a small resort, with staff size ranging from 5-8 individuals, including owners.

The Employee Experience

Golden Eagle Lodge is a family-owned and operated year-round resort. We have 11 lakefront cabins and a small campground. We value an energetic and positive work environment. Staff are encouraged to take advantage of our location with free use of most rental equipment. A typical work week consists of five 8-hour workdays with two consecutive days off, giving our staff plenty of time to enjoy the area. Both full-time seasonal and full-time year-round positions are open starting May 15th.

Housing is provided in our large staff house. This is the previous owner's private house and is very comfortable with ample space. Private bedrooms and bathrooms with locking doors are assigned to each staff member. There are two spacious living areas, a three-season porch, a dining room, and a large kitchen. A cupboard, pantry, and fridge/freezer space are assigned to each room. Coin laundry is located in the basement at the cost of $1/wash cycle. There is no charge for use of the dryer. We expect our staff to keep this house clean and orderly, being particularly respectful of all shared spaces. Issues with housing will not go unaddressed by owners. Staff will also enjoy a covered deck, private yard, and use of a charcoal grill. There are raised beds in the backyard if anyone is interested in maintaining a garden.

High-speed internet is available on the resort. The Gunflint Trail doesn't have widespread cell phone coverage, but we do have a Verizon hotspot that covers our lodge and employee housing buildings.

Use of illicit drugs is prohibited by all staff, and no smoking is allowed in any resort buildings.

Getting Here and Getting Around

Employees must have their own vehicle. While our staff lives on site and can walk to work, we are located 45 minutes or 27 miles from the nearest town, and everyone needs to be able to take care of themselves independently. There is no public transportation on the Gunflint Trail. Many things can be ordered via Amazon, Walmart, and other online retailers, but simply put, not everything can be done this way. Staff are not allowed to use company vehicles to get groceries, go to the doctor, or run any other personal errands.

For Fun

Nestled in the Superior National Forest on the edge of the Boundary Water Canoe Area Wilderness, nature is our playground. Hiking, fishing, and canoeing are some of the most popular outdoor activities in our area, but the list goes on.

Flour Lake is ideal for recreating, being small enough to canoe, kayak, and paddle board on, but big enough to support a healthy fish population. We maintain one of the largest cross country ski trail systems in Minnesota, and in the summer, these trails are great for fat tire and mountain biking. Additionally, nearby roads boast some very fast gravel for gravel biking and trail running! We are a dark sky sanctuary, making our night skies some of the darkest in the world - perfect for any aspiring photographer! Wildlife viewing, berry picking and foraging occupy many summer and fall afternoons. Hang a hammock under a few of our many white or red pines and enjoy the amphitheater of the Boreal Forest. There is something for every outdoor enthusiast at Golden Eagle Lodge.
