Glacier National Park Conservancy is a non-profit organization and the official fundraising partner for Glacier National Park. We operate four retail stores in and around Glacier Park, and we hire several seasonal positions in our retail department. 

Our season runs mid-May - early October, but there is some flexibility in start & end dates of employment. Below is a list of positions available for summer 2019:

  • Sales Associate

    Retail
    West Glacier, Montana
    $11.50 / hour

    Job Description
    We hire a number of people in this seasonal position to work in our four retail locations from May - October. Our staff operates our retail stores with great care and efficiency and also provides excellent customer service to Glacier Park visitors.  Employees also act as ambassadors for the Conservancy and help visitors connect with our mission and projects.
     

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    • Welcome park visitors, answer questions and assist with merchandise selection
    • Accurately process transactions, give correct change and run credit cards using our POS system
    • Keep the stores clean and accessible for park visitors
    • Stock and display merchandise according to GNPC guidelines
    • Inform park visitors about the mission of GNPC and our Friend of Glacier membership program
    • Follow the Employee Handbook for maintaining a safe, professional and positive environment for visitors, GNPC co-workers, and NPS employees
    • Attend GNPC and NPS trainings, orientations and special programs as scheduling allows


    Education and Experience:

    • High School Diploma required and some College preferred
    • One year of related retail or customer service experience preferred


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of and interest in Glacier National Park preferred
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Ability to work as part of a team to accomplish the tasks at hand
    • Strong computer skills preferred
    • Understanding of appropriate behavior in a professional work environment
    • Ability to stock and merchandise product in an attractive and organized way
    • Knowledge of retail inventories and ability to take accurate and thorough counts


    Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

    • Strength to handle boxes weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance and hand carts
    • Stamina to stand for long periods of time

  • St Mary Store Manager

    St Mary Visitor Center, Montana

    Job Summary:

    Our retail store at the St Mary Visitor Center is far enough away from our main office in West Glacier that we hire a store manager for that location.  This position performs all of the same duties as a Store Associate but also takes on additional responsibilities for managing money, inventories, and schedules.  This position also travels to the East side Ranger Stations to manage money and inventories at those remote locations.
     

    Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Welcome park visitors, answer questions and assist with merchandise selection
    • Accurately process transactions, give correct change and run credit cards using our POS system
    • Keep the stores clean and accessible for park visitors
    • Stock and display merchandise according to GNPC guidelines
    • Inform park visitors about the mission of GNPC and our Friend of Glacier membership program
    • Follow the Employee Handbook for maintaining a safe, professional and positive environment for visitors, GNPC co-workers, and NPS employees
    • Attend GNPC and NPS trainings, orientations and special programs as scheduling allows
    • Review St Mary employee timecards and send them to the Operations Manager.
    • Ensure sales associates are trained on POS, policies and procedures.
    • Inform Operations Manager about any issues with product, customers or employees.
    • Travel and train NPS staff/volunteers at the Many Glacier and Two Medicine Ranger Stations. Visit both locations every two weeks to collect money and deliver product.
    • Ensure proper levels of cash are available and accurately counted at all East side locations. Prepare cash deposits for East side locations.
    • Create shift schedules for St Mary employees to ensure the store is appropriately covered at all times. The manager is required to work 5 days per week and must send each schedule to the Operations Manager for approval in advance.   
    • Other tasks as assigned by the Store Operations Manager and Director of Park Stores.


    Education and Experience:

    • High School Diploma required
    • College degree preferred
    • One year of related retail/customer service experience
    • One year in a manager/supervisor position

    • Knowledge of and interest in Glacier National Park preferred

  • Warehouse Specialist

    $11.50 / hour

    Job Summary:

    This position assists the Warehouse Manager in receiving and checking in product, picking orders for the retail stores, creating and fulfilling product transfers between stores, and delivering product to each store location.


    Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Track incoming deliveries from vendors
    • Check-in product in a timely manner
    • Notify Warehouse Manager when discrepancies are found
    • Price product when necessary
    • Confirm product information is accurate in POS system (description, cost, retail, UPC, etc.)
    • Create transfers for stores based on min/max settings; adjust as needed
    • Spot check inventory on product to ensure system counts are accurate
    • Pick product for store fulfillment 
    • Deliver product stores and assist with putting product away in stockrooms
    • Notify Warehouse Manager when stock is low
    • Keep warehouse clean and organized
    • Other duties as assigned by Warehouse Manager
          

    Education and Experience:

    • High School diploma required, some college preferred
    • One year warehouse/fulfillment experience preferred
    • Previous experience with POS systems preferred
       

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to work well as part of a team
    • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

    Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

    • Ability to stand, be active, and/or drive for a minimum eight-hour shift
    • Frequently lift and handle cartons weighing up to 50 pounds, with the of use handcarts
    • Ability to bend down or kneel on the ground to stock or pull product from shelves

  • Sales Associate Lead

    Job Summary
    This positions performs all the duties of a Sales Associate and takes on additional responsibilities as a shift lead. These responsibilities include handling the deposit, ensuring the store is opened and closed properly, assisting the Warehouse Manager with inventory counts, and communicating messages to the Operations Manager.

    • Coordinate fun employee gatherings and outings

    Job Description
    This position assists the retail department with all things finance during the busy summer season: processing cash deposits, matching invoices, and replenishing back banks at each store location. The season for this position is May - September.  This position also assists in the warehouse and retail stores, depending on workflow. 

    Our staff operates our retail stores with great care and efficiency and also provides excellent customer service to Glacier Park visitors.  Employees also act as ambassadors for the Conservancy and help visitors connect with our mission and projects.
     

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    • Process cash deposits and deliver deposits to the bank
    • Match invoices to packing slips and purchase orders
    • Track back banks at several store locations and replenish small bills and coin
    • Check credit card transactions against sales reports
    • Assist in answering general phone calls
    • Accurately process transactions, give correct change and run credit cards using our POS system
    • Inform park visitors about the mission of GNPC and our Friend of Glacier membership program
    • Follow the Employee Handbook for maintaining a safe, professional and positive environment for visitors, GNPC co-workers, and NPS employees

  • Retail IT Lead

    West Glacier, Montana

    Job Summary

    This position will work with the Director of Park Stores and Retail Operations Manager to ensure that the POS and network systems in all store locations are fully functional. This position is responsible for POS set-up at the start of the season and take down at the end of the season. This position will also support the store employees in operating the network systems and assist with POS training.

    The position will attempt to repair any POS, network, or E-Commerce issues and evaluate if communication with outside tech support is needed when issues occur. This position requires a strong ability to problem solve in order to fix issues in a timely manner and the ability to manage various tasks in multiple locations with great attention to detail. This position will be working with minimal supervision and will need to be comfortable making quick decisions when in the Park Stores, sometimes with no communication with the Director or Operations Manager.

    When not troubleshooting IT issues, this position will also spend time working in the Park Stores and in the warehouse. The wage for this position will depend on experience.   

     

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assist Operations Manager with POS training and manuals; train store employees on do’s and don’ts in operating the POS and working with the network system
    • Troubleshoot issues that arise with Retail Pro 9.3, Cayan, Retail Dimensions, Magento, Square, and WordPress
    • Act as the liaison for Big Hairy Dog (Retail Pro), Retail Dimensions, and Magento systems when technical issues arise and arrange maintenance sessions to detect and mend inefficiencies
    • Travel to the park stores and talk with store employees to ensure that registers and network systems operate correctly
    • Work shifts in each store on a regular basis
    • Setup park stores' POS and network systems, including off-grid satellite-based systems
    • Document and map any hardware configuration changes to the POS and network systems of each store
    • Setup any other necessary hardware and software for POS systems
    • Perform regular updates to POS systems, office desktops and servers
    • Trouble shooting system failures and bugs
    • Assist main office personnel as needed
    • This position requires a high degree of customer service orientation, time and project management, problem resolution and some employee development
