Glacier National Park Conservancy is the official non-profit fundraising partner for Glacier National Park. We operate four retail stores in and around Glacier Park, and we hire about 25 seasonal employees for our summer retail operation. 

Our season runs May - October, with the busiest time being late June - mid-September.  We have some flexibility with the start & end dates of employment, depending on the position.  Please note that we require most employees to stay until at least Labor Day. 

Below is a list of positions available for Summer 2021.

  • Sales Associate

    Retail
    West Glacier & Apgar, St Mary Visitor Center, and Logan Pass Visitor Center
    $13.00 / hour

    Job Summary:

    We hire Sales Associates for the busy summer season (May – October) to work in the Glacier National Park Visitor Center stores.  Sales Associates may be based out of West Glacier or St Mary, MT. The primary roles for Sales Associates are operating the register, re-stocking product, assisting customers, monitoring store capacity, and enforcing Covid-19 safety measures. They also receive orders from our warehouse, organize back stock, count inventory, keep stores clean, and provide information about Glacier National Park.  

    It’s truly a team effort to keep the checkout lines moving and to keep the shelves well-stocked. Our staff operates our retail stores with great care and efficiency and provides excellent customer service to Glacier Park visitors.  Employees also act as ambassadors for the Glacier Conservancy by asking for donations and helping visitors connect with our mission and projects.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Welcome Glacier Park visitors and assist with merchandise selection
    • Accurately process transactions, and run credit cards using our POS system
    • Keep the stores clean and accessible for park visitors
    • Improve efficiencies at the register to maximize the number of transactions processed
    • Stock and display merchandise according to GNPC guidelines
    • Communicate and enforce Covid-19 safety measures to ensure the health of staff and visitors
    • Inform park visitors about our mission and Friends of Glacier membership program
    • Ask for donations to Glacier Park with each transaction
    • Other duties as assigned (e.g. inventory work, yard clean up, store set-up, store closing)
    • Follow the Employee Handbook for maintaining a safe, professional, and positive work environment


    Education and Experience:

    • High School Diploma required, and some College preferred
    • One year of related retail or customer service experience preferred
    • Must have valid Driver’s License


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of and interest in Glacier National Park preferred
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Ability to work as part of a team to accomplish the tasks at hand
    • Strong computer skills
    • Understanding of appropriate behavior in a professional work environment
    • Ability to stock and merchandise product in an attractive and organized way
    • Knowledge of retail inventories and ability to take accurate and thorough counts


    Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

    • Strength to handle boxes weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance and hand carts
    • Stamina to stand for long periods of time
    • High energy to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Willingness to work some holidays and weekends
    • Flexibility to accommodate changes to the schedule, due to unpredictable weather or wildfires
  • Sales Associate Lead

    Retail
    West Glacier & Apgar and Logan Pass Visitor Center
    $14.00 / hour

    Job Summary:

    Shift Leads perform all the duties of the Sales Associate position and regularly work on the store floors. They take on some additional responsibilities as Leads. These responsibilities include: handling sales reports and deposits, ensuring the security of buildings, coordinating breaks, communicating with the Warehouse Manager about store inventories, checking in with the Operations Manager about issues that arise, and acting as the primary point of contact for customer service and IT issues. Leads also set a positive example and tone for the crew, ensure protocols are followed, and enforce Covid-19 safety measures. The Sales Associate Lead position is based out of West Glacier, MT.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Accurately process transactions and run credit cards using our POS system
    • Assist in training sales associates on POS and store procedures
    • Address customer service and IT issues as they arise
    • Take the lead in coordinating breaks and assigning roles during the store shifts
    • Set a good example for the crew and create a supportive team environment
    • Assume responsibility for keys, sales reports, and the timing of breaks and rotating duties
    • Serve as the primary point of contact between the stores and the main office
    • Follow through on any special tasking or projects assigned by the Warehouse and Operations Managers
    • Keep stock room organized and notify Warehouse Manager when stock is low
    • Inform park visitors about the mission of GNPC and our Friend of Glacier membership program
    • Follow the Employee Handbook for maintaining a safe, professional, and positive environment
    • Attend GNPC and NPS trainings, orientations and special programs as scheduling allows


    Education and Experience:

    • High School Diploma required; some College preferred
    • One year of related retail or customer service experience preferred
    • One year in a management or supervisory role preferred
    • Previous experience in GNPC stores preferred
    • Must have valid Driver’s License

  • St Mary Store Manager

    Retail
    St Mary Visitor Center
    $14.00 / hour

    Job Summary:

    Our retail store at the St Mary Visitor Center is far enough away from our main office in West Glacier that we hire a store manager for that location. The St Mary staff is typically 4-5 people. This position performs all the same duties as a Sales Associate and regularly works on the store floor. They take on some additional responsibilities as the Store Manager: reporting sales, reviewing product orders, tracking inventory, writing schedules, implementing Covid-19 safety measures, coordinating with NPS staff in St Mary, and communicating with the Operations and Warehouse Mangers in West Glacier about any issues that arise.  The Store Manager is the primary point of contact for customer service and IT issues.  This position also makes regular trips to the Many Glacier and Two Medicine Ranger Stations to collect deposits and deliver product.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Welcome park visitors, answer questions and assist with merchandise selection
    • Support the St Mary staff by setting a positive tone for the team and acquiring tools and supplies needed to work safely and efficiently
    • Accurately process transactions and run credit cards using our POS system
    • Keep the stores clean and accessible for park visitors
    • Stock and display merchandise according to GNPC guidelines
    • Inform park visitors about the mission of GNPC and our Friend of Glacier membership program
    • Attend GNPC and NPS trainings, orientations and special programs as scheduling allows
    • Ensure sales associates are trained on POS system, policies and procedures and that rules are enforced.
    • Inform Operations Manager about any issues related to product, customers or employees
    • Communicate with the Warehouse Manager to ensure the St Mary store is well-stocked
    • Visit the Many Glacier and Two Medicine Ranger Stations every two weeks to collect money and deliver product.
    • Create shift schedules for St Mary employees to ensure the store is appropriately staffed
    • Write-Off damaged product out of the inventory system
    • Coordinate ticket sales for Star Parties and Native America Speaks programs
    • Follow the Employee Handbook for maintaining a safe, professional and positive environment
    • Other duties as assigned


    Education and Experience:

    • High School Diploma required
    • College degree preferred
    • One year of related retail/customer service experience
    • One year in a manager/supervisor position
    • Must have valid Driver’s License

  • Warehouse Specialist

    $14.00 / hour

    Job Summary:

    This position assists the Warehouse Manager in receiving & distributing product to several busy store locations.  Warehouse Specialists are primarily focused on fulfilling and delivering orders to the stores.  It’s a big job to keep the stores stocked and the warehouse organized.  We work in a fast-paced environment that does not stop during the height of the tourist season!  The Warehouse Specialist positions are based out of our warehouse at the Belton Train Depot in West Glacier, MT. The warehouse season runs from April – October.

    Our staff operates our retail stores with great care and efficiency and provides excellent customer service to Glacier Park visitors.  Employees also act as ambassadors for the Conservancy and help visitors connect with our mission and projects.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Receive incoming deliveries and check in product in a timely manner
    • Notify Warehouse Manager when inventory discrepancies are discovered, or when stock is low
    • Price product and check that product information is accurate in POS system
    • Create and pick orders for the stores, and communicate with stores about what is needed
    • Spot check inventory counts to ensure POS system is accurate
    • Deliver product to stores and assist with putting product away in stockrooms
    • Keep warehouse clean and organized
    • Assist with end of season inventory counts
    • General facilities work including cleaning, yard work, and light maintenance
    • Comply with Covid-19 protocols to ensure the health and safety of our staff and customers 
    • Follow the Employee Handbook for maintaining a safe, professional, and positive environment
    • Other duties as assigned


    Education and Experience:

    • High School diploma required; some college preferred
    • One year warehouse/fulfillment experience preferred
    • Previous experience with POS systems preferred
    • Must have valid Driver’s License


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Willingness to admit mistakes and make efforts to correct them
    • Ability to work well as part of a team

    Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

    • Ability to stand, be active, and/or drive for a minimum eight-hour shift
    • Frequently lift and handle cartons weighing up to 50 pounds, with the of use handcarts
    • Ability to bend down or kneel on the ground to stock or pull product from shelves 
    • Positive attitude to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Willingness to work holidays and weekends
    • Flexibility to accommodate changes to the schedule, due to unpredictable weather or wildfires
