We are located in the epicenter of western trout fishing! 18 miles west of Yellowstone National Park on the south side of beautiful Hebgen Lake.

About Firehole Ranch

As an Orvis endorsed lodge, our focus in on creating fantastic fly fishing experiences for our guests.  Other activities include horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, swimming and trail running.  Our employees provide over the top guest service to our wonderful guests.  

The Employee Experience

Work hard and play hard.  All our employees are dedicated to providing world-class guest service with a positive, upbeat attitude.  About 22 staff plus 10 fishing guides make up our crew.  We staff enough employees to allow for each worker to enjoy two consecutive days-off per week.  This amount of liberty seldom exists in this industry where the "growing season," is from mid-May to the end of September.  We at Firehole Ranch believe that a happy, well-rested staff will provide greater overall performance towards the work so crucial to an excellent guest experience. 

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for responsible, well-rounded people with a skill set appropriate to the different positions.  Must have flexible, team-oriented attitude and the ability to live in a communal and fairly remote environment.  Should love the outdoors and take advantage of all the area offers. 

Room and Board

Room & board is provided. Three meals a day and dormitory living.  Most are single rooms.

Salary (DOE) plus room and board.  The Ranch also offers fishing, hiking, mountain biking, swimming and horseback riding.  There are plenty of opportunities to get away on your time off to enjoy the area.  Yellowstone is our backyard!

Getting Here and Getting Around

We are 18 miles from the town of West Yellowstone on the south side of Hebgen Lake.  You can fly to West Yellowstone, Bozeman or Idaho Falls, but to take full advantage of the area we recommend bringing your own vehicle.

If you love the outdoors, this is the place for you!  Enjoy camping, fishing, hiking, mountain biking and canoeing from the Ranch.  On your days off explore Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks or travel to Bozeman, MT or Jackson Hole, WY.

Our Jobs

All our positions require exemplary customer service, love of the outdoors, ability to be flexible and job share and live in a small tight knit community.

Season runs from late May through September 30th. Staff must commit to working the entire season.


Breakfast/Prep Cook

Outside of West Yellowstone

Cook breakfast for guests and staff 3-4 days a week. Support Kitchen staff when not on breakfast. Participate in prepping and preparing box lunches for guests.  This position requires the prep/cook/dish to follow directions but also to be self-motivated, responsible and have a keen eye for details.  A minimum of 2 years experience is required.
The position includes multiple tasks, making work days more interesting.  Flexibility is a must, including basic prep, other odd jobs, helping with deliveries, and spelling the dish-washing shift twice per week.  Breakfast Cook will be trained by both evening Chefs and will be asked to be professional in the position as you will be an assistant on line twice per week.


Dining Room Server

Outside of West Yellowstone
Serve breakfast and dinner to guests in a relaxed fine dining setting. Responsibilities include bar tending, set up and break down of the dining room, cleaning and maintaining the lodge and some dish washing. Fine dining experience preferred. Must be flexible to pitch in where needed.

Handyman / Head of Maintenance Crew

Outside of West Yellowstone

This position requires strong leadership qualities and a dynamic individual who is organized, possesses a strong attention to detail, follows directions well, and has familiarity with general maintenance tools (mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, wood splitter and hand tools).  Must enjoy providing world class customer service. Applicants must possess clear communication and delegation skills and an overall can-do attitude.

Responsible for coordination of 4 maintenance personnel.  Oversee Building, grounds, transportation/boats. Experience managing people, scheduling and maintaining records and driving boats. Well rounded skill set with respect to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, vehicles, boats and landscaping/grounds. Must be flexible to pitch in where needed.  


Kitchen Help/Dishwasher

Outside of West Yellowstone

The dishwasher position requires following directions, to be self-motivated and responsible. NO experience is required, but fast learning and common sense are expected.  The position includes multiple tasks, making work days more interesting. Flexibility is a must. Some basic food prep, helping with staff meals prep, and odd jobs such as daily cleaning schedules, helping with deliveries (you must be able to lift 50 lbs), and organizing guest lunch coolers. The dish-washing shift is from 2 or 3 pm to close (expect a full 8 hour shift).
You will be trained by the Chef and his assistants and will be asked to be professional in your position; there is significant opportunity for growth within the Firehole Ranch company.

The Dishwasher will work with a small team-oriented kitchen led by Chef Bruno and Kris both 29 year veterans at the Firehole Ranch . Be ready to learn and be ready to be asked to perform a variety of tasks. We serve approximately 20 guests and 20 staff during each meal.



Outside of West Yellowstone

Entry Level position helping to maintain buildings and grounds of ranch. Transport guests daily in Vans, Suburbans and Pontoon Boats. Start Mid-May and work through September.

  • Maintain boats and vehicles.
  • Maintain grounds: daily watering, care of lawns, mowing, and keeping gravel roads in good shape.
  • On-going maintenance of all buildings and the marina.
  • Provide daily boat shuttles morning and evening.
  • Provide airport shuttles
  • Assist with other ranch/lodging maintenance needs as necessary.
  • Valid driver’s license and minimum 21 years of age.

Sous chef/Line cook

Support Head Chef preparing nightly dinners for up to 24 guests. Cook evening meal for staff. Plan and create meals for guests on Head Chefs days off.
Maintenance / Housekeeping


Outside of West Yellowstone

Provide private horseback rides for guests. Feed, water and groom 6-8 horses. Maintain pastures, fences and corrals. Will work with other departments, Maintenance or Housekeeping, depending on skill set.
