The Role
As a Shuttle Driver and/or Crew Member for Katmai Water Taxi, you will play a critical role in the daily transportation of guests and the smooth operation of our water taxi service and lodge support systems. This position combines guest shuttle driving, on-water crew responsibilities, and light lodge support duties during downtime.
The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, remote environment. You should enjoy guest interaction, take pride in maintaining vehicles and equipment, and be willing to jump in where needed to keep operations running smoothly.
Duties
Shuttle Driver Responsibilities
Pick up Katmai Water Taxi and lodge guests from designated locations
Transport guests to Lake Camp or Fat Bear Lodge
Ensure guest lunches for unguided Brooks trips are loaded into the van and transferred to the Water Taxi at Lake Camp
Keep shuttle vans fueled with diesel
Wash and clean vans as needed, inside and out
Water Taxi Crew Responsibilities
Assist the Captain with anchoring and docking
Help navigate into and out of the river channel by identifying and calling out markers
Assist with loading and unloading passengers
Assist passengers with bags as needed
Help clean the interior of the boat at the beginning and end of each day
Assist in locating missing passengers at Brooks Camp if they do not arrive for their scheduled run
Deliver cancellation notices to the Brooks Camp Visitor Center and campground when necessary
Lodge Support (During Downtime)
When there is downtime between shuttle runs, you’ll assist with light lodge and property support tasks that help keep operations running smoothly. All duties are clearly outlined on a laminated checklist so expectations are straightforward and organized.
Compensation
$3,000 per month
House tips shared
Food and housing provided at $15 per day
If the full season is completed, this amount is returned to you
Housing
Housing is provided on-site in shared accommodations.
Ideal Candidate
Holds a valid driver’s license and is comfortable driving vans
Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
Comfortable working flexible hours in a dynamic environment
Willing to assist both on land and on the water
Enjoys working with guests and as part of a small, close-knit team
Has CPR/First Aid/AED training
