WHAT YOU WILL DO (JOB SUMMARY)
The Assistant General Manager at Firefall Ranch is a key management position within the organization who helps deliver exceptional guest service and operational excellence. The Assistant General Manager serves as a key operational leader and strategic partner to the General Manager, helping drive excellence across all areas of Firefall Ranch. This highly visible, hands-on leadership position is responsible for supporting and elevating the daily operation of Food & Beverage, Culinary, Front Office, Reservations, Housekeeping, Retail, Facilities, and overall guest experience delivery.
The ideal candidate is an experienced hospitality professional who thrives in dynamic resort environments, possesses strong emotional intelligence, and can effectively lead and influence teams in a remote destination setting. They must be comfortable observing, analyzing, and implementing operational improvements while fostering a culture of collaboration, ownership, and exceptional service.
In addition to supporting day-to-day operations, the Assistant General Manager plays a critical role in developing department leaders, strengthening interdepartmental communication, ensuring quality assurance standards are consistently met, and helping Firefall Ranch deliver memorable and distinctive guest experiences. This position also works closely with the General Manager to support employee engagement initiatives, talent development, and the Ranch's youth employment and mentorship programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise and manage department managers with a focus on both BOH and FOH Food & Beverage operations
Manage evening Ranch operations
Seek guest interaction and be the face of Ranch hospitality
Interview and hire managers and support the hiring process for general staff
Support GM in managing Ranch revenues and expenses
Devise and execute operational enhancements
Actively manage day-to-day labor and overtime
Work hands-on wherever needed
Establish structured processes and enforce standards, programs and procedures, including break scheduling and monitoring
Establish and oversee strong safety standards
Enforce policies/standards, and manage progressive discipline & associated documentation
Communicate professionally at all times with all staff and management
Support team members and interns while fostering a positive work environment
Oversee Ranch operations during General Manager vacations and days off
Perform other duties as assigned, including additional lodge support as needed
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED; college degree a plus
Minimum three-years Food & Beverage operations management with culinary oversight, plus significant customer service/hospitality management experience
Experience successfully living/working in rural/remote environment preferred
COMPETENCIES/REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Significant expertise managing a busy, multi-faceted service/hospitality operation, including financial management
Significant expertise in kitchen and restaurant operations oversight
Strong HR expertise
Familiar with hotel PMS and POS operating systems
Expertise in training and coaching young managers and line employees
Expertise managing departmental schedules and labor cost control
Strong guest service and hospitality focus
Highly professional
Strong communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Follows company policies, procedures and standards
Expertise in workplace safety and sanitation
Adaptable, takes initiative, and able to multitask and troubleshoot in a fast-paced setting

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical environment requires employees to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions, and to adhere to departmental uniform standards
Frequent walking, twisting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, sitting, climbing stairs
Ability to stand and move continuously
Lifting up to 50 pounds and moving carts weighing 300 pounds
Working with required chemicals and PPE
Shifts of varying lengths, primarily focused on afternoons and evenings
