COMPENSATION:  Starting at $60-70/hour all-in while performing primary lodge guest treatments. $18/hour while performing other spa related work.

We are a group of exceptional lodges bordering Yosemite National Park, near granite peaks, fresh mountain air, and some of the most iconic views in the world. WHAT WE OFFER

  • Compensation totaling $60-70/hour (35-40% of treatment cost) for 50 and 80 minute primary lodge guest massage treatments when combining hourly pay, commission & service fees. Totals vary for shorter treatments, chair massage & locals treatments.

  • Additional possible earned gratuities & service commissions

  • $18/hour during non-treatment hours when providing spa operations support 

  • Sick pay in first year; paid time off thereafter

  • If living in lodge-owned housing, room & board available for fixed weekly cost 

WHAT YOU WILL DO (JOB SUMMARY) 

Rush Creek Lodge & Spa is looking for an experienced massage therapist to join our wellness team with the ability to perform Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports, Reflexology & Hot Stone Massage. We are seeking a massage therapist that provides high quality service while creating a welcoming, professional and clean environment for clients. We are looking for someone who is passionate about what they do, bringing a warm and positive attitude to the wellness team.

As a Massage Therapist in Yosemite, you will have the opportunity to provide rejuvenating and therapeutic experiences amidst the tranquility of nature. You will work during non-treatment hours as a wellness attendant, engaging with staff and guests to support all aspects of spa operations. You will describe treatments, check in guests, collect payments, order and serve food, provide spa tours, prepare selected treatments, assist with retail purchases, help maintain and clean the spa, and perform any other spa related tasks that may be needed in support of the spa team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide exceptional guest service and warm, caring hospitality 

  • Attend in-house training with the goal of being able to perform all massage services offered at the Spa as described in the Spa Menu

  • Maintain a calm and welcoming attitude

  • Learn, demonstrate, and adhere to sequence and protocols for each massage service added to the skill set

  • Demonstrate thorough familiarity of Spa services by performing professional recommendation of next experience for guests served in a meaningful and relevant manner

  • Provide professional recommendation of retail products with the goal of 10% product sales to service

  • Suggest service enhancements to improve guest experience and treatment goals

  • Retain guests by consistently anticipating guest needs, listening, and adhering to the standards for spa guest service

  • Encourage local guests to return and maintain a wellness self-care regimen

  • Clean and sanitize work area and remove soiled linen per Spa standards

  • Stock and organize massage room with appropriate linens and supplies, leaving room ready and picture perfect for the next guest

  • Prioritize and meet time goals in a calm, professional manner

  • In your wellness attendant role during non-treatment hours, perform associated Spa Desk & Publics Attendant duties as outlined above, from greeting guests, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and finalizing payments, to cleaning and maintaining all spa areas, preparing goods and services, and assisting day use guests   

  • Maintain Spa safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards

  • Assist with other Spa operations as instructed by Spa leadership

  • Communicate professionally at all times with all staff and management

  • Support team members and interns while fostering a positive work environment

  • Comply with work shift schedules and break requirements

  • Perform other duties as assigned, including additional lodge support as needed

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • CMT Certified with 500+ training hours

  • Spa experience strongly preferred

  • California Certified Massage Therapist certification (other state certification can be transferred upon arrival)

  • Experience successfully living/working in rural/remote environment preferred

COMPETENCIES/REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

  • Strong guest service and hospitality focus

  • Knowledge of Deep Tissue, Swedish, Sports, Reflexology, and Hot Stone Massage

  • Physically fit and use proper techniques to provide up to 6 massages per day on an ongoing basis 

  • Willingness to learn other massage modalities

  • Teachable and open to new ideas and developing new skills

  • Reliable, dependable and punctual

  • Works well as part of a team and supports others

  • Detail-oriented with good organizational skills

  • Follows company policies, procedures and safety standards

  • Adheres to food handling and sanitation requirements

  • Communicates appropriately, supportively and professionally

  • Adaptable, takes initiative, and able to multitask and troubleshoot in a fast-paced setting

  • Demonstrates good judgment, integrity, honesty and professionalism

  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow

  • Leading a healthy, balanced, drug-free lifestyle

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • The physical environment requires employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions, and to adhere to departmental uniform standards

  • Frequent walking, twisting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, sitting, climbing stairs

  • Ability to stand and move continuously

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds and moving carts weighing 300 pounds

  • Working with required chemicals and PPE

  • Shifts of up to 8 hours per day, plus periodic additional overtime hours and help covering additional shifts when needed
