The Camp Counselor plays a vital role in creating a fun, inclusive, and enriching camp experience for individuals with disabilities. This position is responsible for supporting campers in engaging programs, fostering personal growth, and ensuring a safe, supportive, and dynamic environment for all campers. By providing high-quality accessible recreation, and mentorship, the Camp Counselor helps campers develop new skills, build confidence, and create lasting memories. This role requires hands-on participation and leadership on-site at Rocky Mountain Village in Empire, CO.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist campers with daily living activities, including dressing, eating, and personal hygiene, as needed.
Responsible for working with the site personnel to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for staff and campers, promoting an inclusive environment that promotes social interaction and personal growth.
Provide direct supervision and care to campers, ensuring their safety, well-being, and participation in activities.
Modify activities to meet the individual needs, abilities, and interests of campers.
Provides guidance, motivation, and supports all camp visitors
Qualifications:
Certification in CPR/First Aid (we will train)
Ability to display patience
Must be able to pass all State and Federal background checks
Ability and willingness to work in a team environment
Ability and willingness to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats
Benefits Offered:
This seasonal position would not qualify for healthcare benefits; however, would qualify for coverage under workman’s compensation insurance.
Physical Requirements of This Position:
Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force on a consistent basis, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
