The San Juan Islands Archipelago is a group of 175 named islands located in Washington State in the heart of the Salish Sea. The islands were formed by massive geological events, mountains moving, land shifting, volcanoes erupting & glacial ice carving. You'll see plenty of marine life, terrestrial birds, lavender farms & even a herd of island alpacas. This is the island life!

First, the Critters: the island is famous for its whales and wildlife. Orcas, Humpbacks, the occasional Grey, porpoises and dolphins call the waters around San Juan Island their home. The isle has more nesting bald eagle couples than anywhere else in the US. Observe foxes, bunnies, deer, about 170 kinds of land & sea birds, seals, sea lions and otters from the rugged shore. If you like to see animals in their natural habitat, this is your place.
The great outdoors: there is a hiking, biking, kayaking, whale watching, fishing, zip-lining, sailing and more. San Juan Island is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise.
Our little town: Friday Harbor has a very cool art scene, museums, galleries, live music, live theater, a Shakespeare Festival, a movie theater, a bowling alley and super cute shops. Our area is sometimes called the "food archipelago" for its outstanding farm-to-table restaurants. If you like small-town life without any chain stores and traffic lights, you will love it here.
