Seasonal Lodge Chef / Culinary Experience Lead
Private Fly Fishing & Wingshooting Lodge – Montana

We are seeking a talented, hospitality-minded Seasonal Lodge Chef to lead the culinary program at our private fly fishing and wingshooting lodge in Montana.

This role is ideal for a chef who enjoys creating elevated yet approachable cuisine, values seasonal ingredients, and thrives in a guest-focused environment. The Chef plays a central role in the lodge experience, crafting memorable meals that bring guests together after days spent on the river or in the field.

Typically, the season runs through mid-November, though we would like our new chef to start at their earliest convenience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute daily breakfast, packed lunch, hors d'oeuvres, and dinner service

  • Develop seasonal menus that reflect the spirit of Montana and the lodge experience

  • Accommodate dietary restrictions and special guest requests

  • Manage food purchasing, inventory, and kitchen organization

  • Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness, food safety, and presentation

  • Coordinate with lodge management and guides regarding guest schedules and meal timing

  • Participate in occasional special events and hosted gatherings

  • Present meals and engage with guests when appropriate

Schedule & Rhythm

This position involves long but rewarding days typical of high-end destination lodges:

  • Early mornings preparing breakfast and streamside lunches

  • Midday menu planning, prep work, inventory management, and provisioning

  • Evening service focused on hors d'oeuvres, and multi-course dinners

Seasonality

Peak Season

  • Full-time, on-site position

  • Active guest service and meal preparation

Off-Season

  • Limited responsibilities related to menu planning, vendor coordination, and seasonal preparation

  • Potential opportunities for off-season consulting or return-season planning based on mutual fit

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive seasonal salary

  • Performance bonuses and guest gratuities

  • Meals provided while on duty

  • Access to world-class fly fishing and outdoor recreation

  • Supportive, professional team environment

  • Opportunity to help shape a growing luxury lodge experience

Ideal Candidate

  • Professional culinary experience preferred (lodges, resorts, private clubs, guest ranches, boutique hotels, yachts, hunting/fishing lodges, or fine dining establishments)

  • Passion for hospitality and creating exceptional guest experiences

  • Ability to work independently and manage all aspects of a small lodge kitchen

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

  • Comfortable adapting menus and service to changing guest counts and dietary needs

  • Appreciation for outdoor lifestyles, conservation, hunting, fishing, and rural Montana culture

We are looking for someone who views food as an essential part of the guest experience and takes pride in creating meals that guests remember long after their trip ends.
