A vital element of this position is the planning and preparation of employee meals. The right person for this role will see each day as a chance to uplift others, connect over shared meals, and make our unique resort environment feel a little more like home.
To further enhance our Dismal River culture, this position will additionally focus on behind-the-scenes coordination and execution of:
Employee engagement activities, including staff events, seasonal celebrations, and morale-boosting exercises.
Regularly scheduled shuttle trips to our local town of Mullen, NE and the larger trading center of North Platte, NE for entertainment or to get groceries and other essential items.
This role supports the daily quality of life, well-being, and engagement of our staff at Dismal River Club, which directly impacts employee morale and retention by ensuring our team members feel supported, appreciated, and connected.
Key Responsibilities
Work with our head chef to plan employee meals within specified budget
Prepare and serve staff lunch daily for up to 50 employees
Ensure that food safety and sanitation standards are met
Coordinate and drive employee shuttles
Assist with the organization and execution of team activities
Maintain and clean employee common areas, including the kitchen, recreation area, and weight room
Track the number of meals, events, transportation usage, and staff resources
Promote a positive, respectful, and team-oriented workplace culture aligned with Dismal River Club values
What We’re Looking For
Personable, approachable, and service-minded attitude
Previous experience in food preparation is required
Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
Ability to multitask and stay flexible in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable working with a diverse staff across departments
Problem-solver who takes initiative and follows through
Strong organizational and communication skills
Physical & Scheduling Requirements
Physical stamina to stand, walk, and move throughout the property for the majority of shift
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 40 pounds occasionally
Comfortable with driving a large passenger van
Flexible schedule, including some evenings or weekends for staff events
