Spend the summer at Cultus Lake Resort, Central Oregon's premier rustic lakeside lodge with cabins and high speed watercraft rentals. Work with our tight knit team of around 20 staff members, to provide memorable summertime family vacations for our wonderful guests.
We are looking for Line Cooks who are team players with a positive attitude and the ability to get along with a diverse group of humanity. Candidates must be able to multitask, stand 8+ hours at a time, lift 50+ lbs, have knowledge of safe knife practices, portion controlling, and the ability to follow specific recipes. We strive to keep a clean, sanitized work area throughout the shift as well as practicing a deep clean at the end of the day. Following food safety procedures by labeling products, properly rotating stock, and meticulous hand washing is required. Must have or be able to acquire an Oregon food handler card.
Our restaurant is a from scratch kitchen specializing in BBQ and smoked meats. Our line cooks will also assist with other kitchen duties such as prep, re-stocking, and dish sanitizing. We also have opportunities to cross train between back of house and front of house for the right candidates.
We are seeking applicants who have at least 1-2 years of line cook experience. If you are new to the kitchen, with a great work ethic and willing to learn, we may be able to fit the role to your experience level. Due to our remote location, we require that employees have access to their own vehicle.
Start Date: June 10th is the start date for this role. End date is either September 7th, or September 30th.
Pay: Our entire resort (restaurant, store, marina, cabin operations) operates on a tip pooling system, and gratuity has historically added to pay significantly especially during the peak summer months. Restaurant BOH staff receive an equal share of the tip pool distributed by hours worked, In 2025, gratuities accounted for an additional $5-6k in wages for each staff member who worked through our peak season. Hourly pay is $15.50/hr, with increases for staff in leadership positions.
Housing: There is a 5 bedroom dorm on the property. Staff in our dorm end up with a private bedroom unless you are traveling with a partner. We also have van or RV parking available. Housing costs vary based on accommodations, from $25-$75 deduction per bi-weekly paycheck, however upon completion of your work agreement, all housing costs are gifted back to each employee as a bonus. No pets are allowed in our dorm, but well behaved pets are allowed in private RVs and vans.
Other Benefits: There's more besides living right next to a crystal clear lake, with hiking and camping opportunities all around you, in close proximity to the awesome town of Bend? Staff are able to enjoy the lake on both motorized and non-motorized rental watercraft (certain limitations exist for the motorized watercraft). We provide a significant number of staff meals, free on-site laundry, PTO, employee wifi, and more. Staff who return for multiple seasons may be eligible for our 401k program.
Other Requirements
Being a team player is essential to fostering an environment where employees trust each other. While each individual is hired for a particular role, we expect all employees to be willing to pitch in where necessary to help their teammates, whether the tasks are directly related or wholly unrelated to the job you were hired for. As such, we require all employees to be physically able to do the following.
The ability to lift up to 50 lbs
The ability to move safely over uneven terrain
The ability to be walking or standing for long portions of the day
The ability to safely climb ladders
The ability to work in extreme weather
The ability to respond quickly to sounds and to see and respond to dangerous situations
The ability to operate a work vehicle or UTV, with a valid drivers license
Throughout the season and especially early and late in the season, employees may be asked to perform functions outside of their normal roles, such as participating in groundskeeping projects (pine needle clean-up, debris removal, etc), participating in maintenance projects (painting, staining, sealing, etc) and cabin cleaning. All job offers are subject to passing a criminal background check.
