About Campit Oudoor Resort

Campit isn't a corporation, a chain campground, or a place where you'll spend your summer wearing a name tag and repeating the same script a hundred times a day.

We're a 36-acre LGBTQ+ resort tucked into the woods near Saugatuck, Michigan, and for more than 50 years we've provided a place where people can relax, connect, and simply be themselves. That mission isn't just for our guest, it's for our staff too.

Working here means becoming part of a small team that wears a lot of hats. On any given day you might help a guest check in, serve food by the pool, assist with a special event, answer questions about the area, or help prepare for one of our themed weekends. No two days are exactly alike.

What makes Campit unique is the community. Many of our guests have been returning for years, even decades. They know our staff by name. They celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and milestones here. For many, Campit isn't just where they vacation, it's where they feel most at home. Being part of that experience is incredibly rewarding.

Life here extends beyond work as well. Our staff spend their summer exploring Lake Michigan beaches, discovering Saugatuck's restaurants and nightlife, making lifelong friendships, and becoming part of one of the most welcoming communities in the Midwest.

This isn't the right fit for someone looking to punch a clock and disappear. It is the right fit for someone who enjoys people, values inclusion, works hard, adapts quickly, and wants to spend a summer helping create experiences that genuinely matter.

By the end of the season, you'll have gained hospitality experience, lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories, and a deeper understanding of what community can look like when everyone is welcome.

That's the magic of being radically inclusive.

The Employee Experience

We value inclusivity, kindness, accountability, and authenticity. Our staff come from different backgrounds, experiences, and walks of life, but we all share the same goal: creating a place where people can relax, connect, and be themselves.

Working here is fast-paced and rewarding. During a typical season, you'll meet guests from across the country, help bring themed events to life, solve problems, learn new skills, and become part of a close-knit team that genuinely supports one another. We work hard, but we also make time to enjoy the unique environment we're fortunate to call home for the summer.

Life at Campit extends beyond the workday. Spend your mornings exploring Saugatuck's coffee shops, your afternoons on Lake Michigan's beaches, and your evenings around campfires, pool parties, concerts, and community events. Every weekend feels different, and every season creates stories you'll be telling for years.

Many seasonal jobs teach you how to do a task. Campit teaches you how to connect with people. You'll leave with stronger hospitality skills, greater confidence, lifelong friendships, and a deeper understanding of what it means to create spaces where everyone belongs.

The best employees don't come here just looking for a job. They come looking for an experience. By the end of the season, most leave with much more than they expected.

That's why so many of our staff return year after year.

Ideal Candidate

The people who thrive at Campit are those who genuinely enjoy being around others and understand that great hospitality is about creating positive experiences, not just completing tasks.

Our most successful employees are friendly, adaptable, dependable, and comfortable working in a team environment. They don't mind pitching in where needed, taking initiative when something needs attention, and approaching challenges with a positive attitude. Campit is a dynamic operation, and no two days are exactly alike. The ability to stay flexible and embrace variety goes a long way here.

Because we serve a diverse LGBTQ+ community, it's important that our team members are respectful, open-minded, and committed to creating a welcoming environment for everyone. We don't expect anyone to have all the answers but we do expect kindness, empathy, and a willingness to learn.

The best fit for Campit is someone who enjoys meeting new people, values inclusion, works hard, communicates well, and wants to be part of something bigger than themselves. Hospitality experience is helpful, but attitude and character matter far more. We can teach skills. We can't teach enthusiasm, curiosity, or a genuine desire to help others.

If you're looking for a place where you'll be trusted, challenged, supported, and given the opportunity to grow, you'll likely feel right at home here.

Room and Board

Seasonal employee housing is available on-site for qualifying positions, allowing staff to live just steps away from work and enjoy everything Campit and the Saugatuck area have to offer.

Housing options vary by position and availability but may shared RVs, or private RVs in most cases.

Housing fees, if applicable, will be discussed during the hiring process and are typically offered at rates significantly below local seasonal rental costs. Because affordable summer housing in the Saugatuck area can be difficult to find, on-site accommodations are often one of the most valuable benefits of working at Campit.

Employees also receive discounts on food, beverages, merchandise, and select resort services. Team members are encouraged to enjoy the resort during their time off while respecting guest spaces and campground policies.

Employee Perks

Working at Campit comes with a few perks beyond your paycheck.

Employees receive 50% off food purchases and 25% off most retail merchandise, making it easy to enjoy the resort and take advantage of everything we offer throughout the season. We also provide reduced-cost employee housing, a valuable benefit in an area where seasonal housing can be limited and expensive during the summer months.

Beyond the tangible benefits, many staff consider the location itself one of the biggest perks. You'll spend your summer just minutes from Lake Michigan beaches, hiking trails, local shops, art galleries, restaurants, and the vibrant Saugatuck-Douglas community. Whether you're spending a day at the beach, exploring town with coworkers, or enjoying a quiet evening around a campfire, there is always something to do during your time off.

Perhaps the greatest benefit, however, is the experience itself. Campit attracts guests and staff from across the country, creating opportunities to build friendships, develop hospitality and leadership skills, and become part of a welcoming community that many people return to year after year.

Getting Here and Getting Around

Having a personal vehicle is recommended, but not required.

Campit is located in a rural setting just outside Saugatuck and Douglas, Michigan. While staff housing is located on-site and within walking distance of work, having your own vehicle provides greater flexibility for exploring the area, grocery shopping, running errands, and enjoying your time off.

For employees traveling from out of state, the nearest major airport is in Grand Rapids, approximately 45 minutes away. Limited transportation assistance may be available for arrival and departure, depending on scheduling and availability. Details can be discussed during the hiring process.

Public transportation in the area is limited, which is common in many seasonal resort communities. Because of this, many employees choose to bring a vehicle if possible. That said, bicycles are welcome and encouraged. Many staff use bikes to travel around the resort and to nearby attractions, and coworkers often coordinate rides into town for shopping, dining, and entertainment.

One of the advantages of living and working at Campit is that your housing and workplace are located in the same place. Most employees can walk to work in just a few minutes, eliminating the need for a daily commute and allowing more time to enjoy everything the area has to offer.

For Fun

If you've never spent a summer in Saugatuck-Douglas, you're in for a treat.

Located along the shores of Lake Michigan, our area is often called one of the Midwest's best-kept secrets. During your time off, you can spend the day relaxing on world-famous beaches, hiking towering sand dunes, kayaking the Kalamazoo River, exploring local art galleries, shopping unique boutiques, or enjoying waterfront restaurants and outdoor patios.

The area is also known for its vibrant arts scene, live entertainment, festivals, farmers markets, and welcoming LGBTQ+ community. Throughout the summer, there is always something happening from concerts and drag shows to beach days, community events, and nightlife in downtown Saugatuck and Douglas.

For those who enjoy the outdoors, miles of cycling routes, nature preserves, hiking trails, and Lake Michigan sunsets are all just minutes away. If your perfect day involves a beach towel and a good book, you'll find that too.

Many of our employees quickly discover that what makes this area special isn't just the scenery, it's the people. The Saugatuck-Douglas community is known for being friendly, creative, accepting, and full of interesting people from all walks of life.

Most seasonal jobs give you a place to work. Campit gives you a place to spend your summer. Whether you're watching the sunset over Lake Michigan, exploring town with coworkers, dancing at a local event, or relaxing around a campfire after a busy weekend, you'll quickly understand why so many people visit once and spend the rest of their lives trying to come back.

This isn't just a summer job destination. It's a summer lifestyle.

How to Apply

If you've made it this far, we'd love to hear from you.

While experience is always appreciated, we're often more interested in the person than the résumé. Skills can be taught. Attitude, kindness, work ethic, and a genuine desire to create great experiences for others are much harder to find.

Rather than filling out endless forms, we encourage you to reach out directly at randy@campitresort.com. Tell us a little about yourself, where you're from, what kind of work you've done, and most importantly: what you're looking for in your next adventure. Are you hoping to build hospitality experience? Spend a summer near Lake Michigan? Meet new people? Be part of a welcoming community? We want to hear your story.

If it sounds like we might be a good fit for each other, we'll schedule a conversation to learn more, answer your questions, and discuss available opportunities.

The hiring process at Campit is simple because we believe the best working relationships start with a conversation.

We look forward to meeting you.
