Rock Climbing & Ropes Director
Camp Walt Whitman – Summer Leadership Opportunity
Camp Walt Whitman is seeking a Rock Climbing & Ropes Director to join our senior summer leadership team. This is not just an activity specialist role — it is a high-impact leadership position responsible for shaping one of our most dynamic and empowering program areas.
As the Director, you will lead, mentor, and inspire a team of five staff members while overseeing all aspects of our rock climbing wall, low and high ropes elements, aerial adventure course, and zipline. You will set the tone for safety, growth, and challenge, ensuring every camper builds confidence, resilience, and courage.

Your Leadership Impact
Direct and manage a team of 5 climbing and ropes instructors
Create a culture of safety, accountability, and encouragement
Train and mentor staff to lead with confidence and professionalism
Oversee daily operations of the climbing wall, ropes courses, aerial adventure course, and zipline
Design engaging, age-appropriate programming that challenges campers physically and mentally
Guide campers beyond their comfort zones in a supportive and empowering environment
Serve as a key member of the camp’s leadership team, collaborating across departments
You will be entrusted with one of the most visible and transformative program areas at camp.
