Only 20 minutes to Rocky Mountain National Park, Camp Chief Ouray offers scenic views in every direction. The camp is located on the property of Snow Mountain Ranch in Granby, Colorado.

Camp Chief Ouray is the longest running summer camp in Colorado. Each year between May - August, hundreds of campers travel to Colorado for a week of adventure. Located on over 5,100 acres of beautiful mountain terrain, Camp Chief Ouray is one of the most scenic summer camps in the country. Only a 20-minute drive to Rocky Mountain National Park, staff have the one in a lifetime chance to live, work, and explore the mountains while making a difference in the lives of children.

Do I have to work the entire summer in order to be on staff at CCO?: It is extremely important for all of our CCO staff to attend Staff Training in order to learn about our program, build rapport with the CCO staff team, and gain valuable certifications/trainings. Though we prefer staff to be present for the entirety of our summer schedule, we are flexible with staff schedules throughout the summer and this should not be a deterrent to applying.
Do you have to be Christian to work for CCO and the YMCA of the Rockies?: No! YMCA of the Rockies is an organization founded on Christian principles, meaning we serve our mission through caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith. You do not need to be Christian to work for CCO or the Y.
Camp Chief Ouray staff are expected to create a safe space for all campers, families, and staff while allowing development and growth for all. They should possess the social and emotional skills necessary to build rapport and positive relationships, putting camper needs first. Responding to camper and customer requests for service, troubleshooting problems, and developing solutions in a patient and respectful manner is an important aspect of our work. All staff should contribute to a cooperative and positive camp community, and take responsibility for the upkeep of the camp facility and cleanliness of camp.
Cabin Counselors stay in cabins with campers.
All other positions (Office Assistants, Media Specialists, Day Camp Counselors, General Counselors, Wranglers, Facilities Coordinators, Assistant Directors, etc.) live in dormitory-style housing.

Camp Chief Ouray is located about 1.5 hours west of Denver. If you are unable to drive, flying into Denver International Airport (DIA) and catching either a shuttle or the Amtrak to Fraser, Colorado.
