At Camp Chief Ouray, being a Challenger Cabin Counselor isn’t just a job—it’s a chance to guide, mentor, and inspire teens during one of the most formative times in their lives. You’ll lead a cabin of 13–14-year-olds through meaningful experiences, outdoor adventures, and moments they’ll never forget.

What You’ll Do
Live with and lead a cabin of up to 20 campers, creating a safe, inclusive, and fun environment
Build strong relationships and support each camper’s social, emotional, and physical well-being
Plan and lead engaging activity classes based on camper interests and your strengths
Guide campers through new challenges, including all-day hikes and outdoor adventures
Collaborate with co-counselors and staff to create a positive, high-energy camp community
Observe camper growth and help identify future leadership and program opportunities
What You Bring
Experience working with teens and a passion for youth development
Confidence leading groups in outdoor settings
Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Ability to stay organized, flexible, and calm in a dynamic environment
Wilderness First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
A team-first mindset and commitment to creating a safe, welcoming space for all
