The BaseCamp Guest Experience Host is part of the team making every chalet feel perfect and every guest feel cared for. The majority of our guests are independent travelers who come to BlueWater BaseCamp to unwind, explore the Eklutna Valley, and experience Alaska on their own terms. Your job is to ensure the chalets are impeccable, their morning starts beautifully, and that any need guests have is met promptly and warmly. On select days, you'll also assist with our corporate retreats, weddings, and group events. We hire 3-4 people for this role to ensure full 7-day coverage throughout the season.

  • 2 miles from Eklutna Lake

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Guest Assistance - reservations, phone calls, computer work

  • Housekeeping — Chalets & Common Areas both indoors and outdoor

  • Event Support

Schedule

  • Full-time - 5 days a week, 8 hrs/day

  • June 1 - Oct 31 (approx)

  • Hiring 1-2 individuals to complete the existing team

  • Limited lodging available

  • RV or parking for employee with their own RV/Van.

  • Lodging is billed to employee at a discounted rate.

Qualifications

Required

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Valid driver's license

  • Previous housekeeping, hospitality, or lodge experience — hotel, resort, Airbnb, camp, or similar setting

  • Computer proficency to include Word and Excell.

  • Ability to work quickly and thoroughly — you manage your time well and don't cut corners

  • Physical stamina: ability to stand, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and remain on your feet for extended shifts

  • Weekend availability required — events primarily occur Friday through Sunday

  • Comfort working in a remote Alaska wilderness setting

  • Reliable, self-directed, and detail-oriented without needing constant supervision

Preferred

  • Experience in a boutique hotel, luxury lodge, or upscale resort environment

  • Experience with reservations software.

  • Event or banquet food and beverage service

  • Knowledge of the Anchorage / Mat-Su / Eagle River area

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES - Descriptions

Reservations & Guest Assistance - Approx 50% of work time 

  • Be a friendly, reliable point of contact for guests during their stay — respond to requests promptly in person or via phone, text and computer 

  • Answer phones during business hours

  • Counter sales in the gift shop.

  • Help guests orient to the property: sauna, fire pit, trails, patios, and chalet amenities

  • Provide basic local information about the Eklutna Valley — will be taught on-site

  • Communicate guest feedback, chalet issues, or supply needs to the General Manager daily

  • Support smooth check-in and check-out processes as directed by the GM using computer reservation systems. 

  • Intermediate or advanced computer skills required as all reservations work is done on computer. 

Housekeeping — Chalets & Common Areas - Approx 30% of work time

  • Complete thorough turnover cleaning of all 8 chalets (5 small studio/1-bedroom, 3 large 2-story) between guest stays

  • Restock chalet consumables and welcome baskets: coffee pods, dish soap, toiletries, paper products, locally-made chocolates, coffee pods, tea, hot drink packets, sugar, creamer, local maps

  • Maintain boutique hotel standards in all chalet bathrooms, kitchens, linens, and living areas

  • Launder, fold, and replace linens, duvets, and towels to a high standard

  • Inspect each chalet after cleaning; identify and report any maintenance needs

  • Clean and reset The Gathering House, prep salon, and restrooms between bookings

  • Maintain sauna interior cleanliness and readiness for guest use

  • Work efficiently and thoroughly — turnovers must be completed on schedule to accommodate back-to-back guest arrivals

Event Support — Mainly Weekends - Approx 20% of work time

On select days, mainly weekends, BlueWater BaseCamp hosts corporate retreats, weddings, group dining events, and private gatherings. Event support is a secondary part of this role and does not require prior event experience.

  • Assist with event space setup: tables, chairs, ivory linens, and basic décor in The Gathering House, patios, and outdoor lawns

  • Support catering partners and private chefs with food and beverage service flow

  • Manage coffee and beverage service during meetings and group events

  • Break down event spaces and restore to baseline after each event

  • Assist with welcome receptions, group dining service, and cocktail hour support as directed
