Laundry/Bath Attendant, Cook, Lodge Attendant, Wrangler, Server/Host,...
Big Sandy Lodge
Boulder, Wyoming
This is not a “summer in the mountains” job — it’s real work in a beautiful place.
Currently recruiting for the season from June 24th, 2026 to September 13th, 2026.
High in the national forest at 9,075 feet, we’re a tiny off‑grid lodge with 10 cozy cabins, a historic main lodge, and a season that runs mid‑June to mid‑October. We serve meals and offer full Outfitting—horseback rides, gear drops, guided hunting and fishing. Small crew, big mountains, unforgettable work. We do not hire H2B or other visa applicants.
In the South Wind River Mountains, in the Bridger-Teton National Forest, and near the Big Sandy Trailhead (known for being the entrance for the Cirque of Towers.)
A step back in time and an abundance of open spaces! We are located 40 miles from the nearest town, so if secluded, quiet, and peaceful are your thing, we've got it. No electricity, cell service, and limited internet service, very similar to off-grid living if you want to give that a test run. We offer our staff one-room cabins (typically dual occupancy) to share with a roommate, hearty ranch-style meals (eat the same as the guests do), and great discounts on our famous burger menu and small gift shop items! If the availability is there, we will give single occupancy housing.
Staff cabins are nestled on the edge of Mud Lake, so you wake to beautiful views every day and maybe even some wildlife. Moose and deer tend to hang around the lodge and you may see waterfowl or catch a glimpse of the beavers swimming in the lake building their home.
What's not to like about waking in the cool crisp morning and working in the mountains miles away from the majority of the population? Learn about animals and plants, hike, fish, etc. Enjoy the great outdoors!
We value hard work, ethics, morals, and a team player attitude. We're old-fashioned and work sun up until sundown. We work together for the best experience and make lifelong connections with each other and our guests.
Employees who come without vices and are genuinely happy with life seem to thrive at Big Sandy Lodge. Staff that enjoys the isolation and quiet. Those that have time management skills and a healthy appetite for doing things once and correctly are a great fit. We pride ourselves on being presentable and in the moment with our guests. Our focus is on them and their stay. We take pride in how our lodge is presented, so a mentality of "all jobs are my jobs" will give an employee a successful season!
Meals and housing are included, free of charge, with employment at Big Sandy Lodge. Cabins with woodstoves and battery lanterns, beds, desk space, dresser, and bedding provided. There is no electricity on site, we run generators for power on an "as needed" basis, otherwise the lodge itself operates off of minimal solar and battery backups. A bathhouse is a shared facility for guests and staff.
50% discount on our public burger menu, 50% off at our small gift shop, and 25% off of a cabin booking for immediate family (limit one stay). Horseback riding in the mountains (subject to availability based on guest bookings).
Housing is on-site and 40 miles from the nearest town. We are on rough dirt roads with boulders, potholes, and washouts. We prefer employees to bring their vehicles and advise higher clearance 4-wheel drive vehicles due to unpredictable weather and road conditions. Smaller vehicles can make it to Big Sandy Lodge, but run the risk of being stuck until the roads dry out. Some staff have brought bikes for recreational riding on the dirt roads.
If you have no vehicle or are otherwise unable to drive here, we can discuss transportation to/from our closest airports which are Jackson Hole (145 miles) or Rock Springs (105 miles).
Hiking, backpacking, fishing, horseback riding, exploring, photography opportunities, stargazing under the best skies, and local events in Pinedale and Lander (i.e. - Rendezvous, Brewfest, Rodeos, etc.) to enjoy on your days off.
