The Bear Valley Adventure Company (BVAC) is one of California's premier cross-country skiing and snowshoeing resorts and is seeking adventurous, customer-service-driven individuals to work in our store. This position is part of a team that opens, closes, and operates our store. Our “adventure” store, we offer winter clothing, ski equipment, snowshoes, camping supplies, and even a mini-mart, as we are also the only gas station in town. High-quality customer service is paramount to our business and community.

We also rent cross country skis and snowshoes, and staff assist folks in getting outfitted before heading onto our groomed trails and hills. Training is provided for those less familiar with these activities. Teamwork is essential, as the store works closely with outside operations to ensure a smooth customer experiences from the time they park their car to when they get out on the snow. Duties also include snow removal around the store when big winter storms arrive.

Bear Valley is a small alpine village at 7100 feet in the Sierra Nevada Range between Lake Tahoe and Yosemite, only a 3-hour drive from San Francisco. Our location and elevation regularly provide a deep snowpack, even in an average year. Our town is small, but it offers big skiing and snowboarding opportunities. In addition to our operations, Bear Valley boasts an excellent downhill ski and snowboard resort, as well as extensive backcountry terrain to explore. That's why we call Bear Valley a winter wonderland!

Housing:
On-site affordable staff housing is available in a 4-bedroom apartment above our store. The accommodations include a shared kitchen, dining room, living room, and bathroom. A washer and dryer are also included. Our housing is conveniently located near village amenities and features a free shuttle bus to the downhill resort.

A Little BVAC History:
BVAC was purchased by the Bear Valley Mountain Cooperative (BVMC) in December 2018. BVMC is a nonprofit organization comprising over 450 individuals dedicated to the betterment of Bear Valley. BVAC is at the forefront of this investment and is encouraged to maintain and improve offerings and services in the greater Bear Valley area.
