Position Details
Compensation: $120–$176 per day
Season: Summer 2026
Location: Nabesna Road, Wrangell–St. Elias National Park & Preserve
Avens Alaska is a remote, off-grid, family-run wilderness lodging operation seeking responsible, adaptable, self-motivated Crewmembers for an unforgettable summer experience. Our small team and remote location offer excellent opportunities for variety and cross-training to learn and practice a blend of maintenance, housekeeping, kitchen support, groundskeeping, gardening and general Alaskan lodge operations. You'll have the chance to learn about sustainable off-grid power generation, Alaskan gardening, foraging, and many other skills for living (comfortably) in the northern wilds. Or keep it simple and focus on refining a few main skills. Work days average 8-12 hours, with plenty of flex for time off to explore, travel, or focus on your own interests.
Applicants with a strong background in any of these areas may be considered for a lead role, though daily duties vary with guest needs, weather, and project plans.
Zero-Tolerance Policy: NO ALCOHOL OR DRUG (INCLUDING CANNABIS) USE on duty, during work hours, or while operating lodge equipment or vehicles.

• Maintenance/Construction EXPERIENCE
• Independent Housekeeping EXPERIENCE
• Kitchen Experience
• Groundskeeping or gardening
• First Responder experience/certification
• Outdoor leadership

Position Overview
Crew supports the guest experience and daily operations by performing a mix of hospitality and outdoor tasks. You will rotate between cleaning cabins, helping with meals, working on the garden and grounds, and assisting guests—making this an ideal role for responsible, hardworking people who enjoy both indoor and outdoor work.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain a clean, professional appearance while on duty and in guest-facing areas
• Cross-craft daily based on staffing and operational needs
• Clean guest cabins, yurts, wash house, and public areas (9 AM–3 PM peak)
• Assist with meal prep, service, dishes, and dessert preparation
• Help maintain kitchen cleanliness
• Weed & water gardens, tend flower boxes, cut grass and brush, and keep grounds neat
• Help with minor painting, staining, and seasonal maintenance tasks
• Greet guests, help with check-ins, and provide basic lodge information
• Communicate issues promptly and contribute to problem-solving
• Cross-craft daily based on staffing and operational needs
Requirements
• A Good Attitude
• Valid driver’s license
• Alaska Food Worker Card (must obtain before arrival)
• Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs from ground level without assistance, walk on unpaved/uneven terrain, work in sun, insects, rain, wind, and cold (sometimes all in the same day!)
• Responsible, adaptable, team-minded, and comfortable living remotely
• Ability to pass a background check
