Above and Beyond Alaska (ABAK) is a local guiding company based in Juneau, Alaska that has been facilitating outdoor adventure experiences on the ocean and ice for over 20 years. Employing a staff of 40 seasonal team members, ABAK offers an opportunity to experience glaciers, bears, and whales through a combination of canoe, kayak, packraft, foot, boat, and float plane travel. We are dedicated to safety, customer service, and environmental conservation with a goal of providing a complete Alaskan wilderness experience by sharing with our clients our passion, technical know-how, and natural history knowledge.
Position Overview
The Sales and Office Coordinator will oversee the day-to-day office sales, customer correspondence, assist management with marketing and social media, and foster relations with cruise partners and vendors. This position works with all sales of the tour department to ensure revenue and guest satisfaction standards are met. This includes sales from all cruise lines, tour operators, travel agents, other travel professionals, and direct bookings through our website. The Sales and Office Coordinator will help foster relationships and grow ABAK’s cruise, in-house, and affiliate sales. This position works directly with the Sales & Marketing Manager.
An ideal candidate has a minimum of one year’s experience in a sales and marketing position, preferably in the visitor industry, and excellent written and verbal communications. In addition, organizational skills, and a high level of attention to detail are key to this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Sales: Monitor day-to-day sales of the tour department to ensure revenue and guest satisfaction standards are met, monitoring communications with the sales team and all sales relationships to ensure customer satisfaction, processing reservations, communicating with customers, conducting sales calls, generating new sales leads, and setting up new vendor contracts. Collaborates with the management team to increase sales revenue.
Reservations: Responds promptly to customer emails, phone calls and online chats. Processes customer reservations in the booking system. Manages reservation systems to make recommendations on where to increase inventory due to demand.
Customer Service: Maintain a well-informed, working knowledge of the accommodations, activities, attractions, and services that are available for visitors in Juneau. Respond to customer reviews online (Tripadvisor, Google, Yelp, etc.). Facilitates the highest level of professional communication and customer service with all partners and customers to increase sales and build a positive reputation for the business.
Cruise Ship Relations: Builds strong relationships with cruise line shore excursion staff. Assist with communications between shipboard staff and management of onsite excursion sales. Track and monitor cruise ship sales then make all necessary adjustments to ensure sales goals are met. Fill in as Tour Representative as needed.
Vendor Relations: Maintain communication and compliance of contracted tour providers, agents, dock vendors, and cruise lines. Fulfill inquiries from cruise lines, tour operators, and travel agents within the working day.
Misc: Running errands and other ad hoc tasks as needed, staff gear orders, vehicle/boat/trailer registrations, airport badging, hiring paperwork, management of standby fees, staff uniforms spreadsheet, etc.
Dock Operations & Guest Relations
Represent ABAK with the highest level of professionalism, enthusiasm, and guest service as the first point of contact for guests and partners on the docks.
Greet guests prior to tour departures, collect necessary information (names, sizes, weights, special requests), confirm accurate counts, and ensure smooth check-in.
Maintain constant awareness of time and tour schedules to ensure timely guest departures and operational efficiency.
Communicate regularly with the Dispatch team to provide real-time updates on guest counts, special requests, and schedule adjustments.
This role may fill in as needed as base support or driver back at the main office or other duties as assigned.
General Requirements
High school diploma or higher
Exceptional verbal and written communication skill
Multitasking and time management skills; ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Sales-oriented mindset with a passion for customer service, relationship building, and outgoing personality.
Computer literacy – competent with Microsoft Word and Excel, capable of learning online booking and POS systems.
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced tourism environment.
21 years of age with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record for the past 5 years
Must have reliable transportation.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
A valid Adult/Child First Aid & CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications (optional):
Previous experience working in tourism/cruise ship tourism.
Knowledge of Southeast Alaska’s weather, ecosystems, wildlife, and glacial environments
Proficiency in computer systems including Google Workspace and reservation platforms such as FareHarbor.
Familiarity with ABAK’s systems, policies, and procedures
Start Date: May 1, 2026 – September 25, 2026 (flexible)
Compensation: $20 - $22/hour .

The outdoor enthusiast will find no shortage of activities to fill their free time, or companions to recreate with. We strive to schedule 1 - 2 days off per week throughout the summer so our team can relax, recharge, and explore.
