About Vermejo - A Ted Turner Reserve

Help Wanted: VERMEJO IS SEEKING to Hire for positions in F&B, Activities, Front Desk, and Rooms departments. Apply Today!

It's more than just a paycheck. It's a purpose.

Ted Turner Reserves is just one of the ways that Ted has chosen to help save the world. The direction behind every action we take is Ted’s goal to “Save Everything.” He knows he cannot do this alone, so he has attracted a group of people who share his vision. By sharing the work we're doing to restore and protect Ted's vast landscapes we hope to inspire others to do the same.

The Employee Experience

At Ted Turner Reserves our people are more than our most important asset, they are passionate individuals who have an instinctive skill of genuine hospitality blended with an innate love of the land and nature. The Ted Turner Reserves hospitality team consists of over 100 members, in both full-time and seasonal positions. Some of the best, most experienced leaders in the industry work to create a culture where we support and care for one another, where having a job means more than just earning a wage. We work for our purpose and our cause, which is to protect, restore, and save the lands that we call home.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for candidates who have an instinctive desire to deliver world-class service to our guests and our co-workers. Our most successful employees also possess a love for nature and a passion to protect and care for it. Candidates who love to help one another and go out of their way to be a friend to all are among the most successful people on our team.

Room and Board

Vermejo provides housing and meals at no cost to our seasonal employees. Housing is dormitory style, and most staff have a private room and bathroom with a shared common space with washers and dryers. Seasonal housing is equipped with WIFI internet and basic furniture, including a bed, dresser, nightstand, and lamp. These seasonal staff rooms do not have kitchens. Three meals a day are served from our employee dining room in the main lodge building. AT&T phone service is the only cellular service available on the ranch.

The closest town to Vermejo is Raton, New Mexico. Raton is about 40 miles from the Vermejo headquarters, making this one of the most remote destinations and the largest private nature reserve in the United States. Because of its remoteness, most employees who work at Vermejo live on the reserve.

Employee Perks

When work is not calling, there are over 550,000 acres to explore! Hiking, biking, fishing, disc golf, horseback riding, and other outdoor activities are available.

Vermejo has hired some of the best leaders in the hospitality industry. They come with many years of experience and they are committed to helping staff fulfill their potential. If your goal is to be a leader in this industry, Vermejo has a team of great mentors.

We have a drug- and tobacco-free work environment, and we maintain a high degree of professional grooming standards.

Getting Here and Getting Around

We encourage employees to bring a private vehicle with them to get here and get around, although it is not necessary for employment. We also encourage employees to bring a mountain bike, as there are over 2000 miles of trails and roads to explore. Four-wheel drive vehicles are not required for general Vermejo travel, but we strongly suggest durable tires (6-ply and above).

The primary commercial airport options are Denver and Albuquerque, and both Greyhound bus service and Amtrak train service have stations in Raton.

For Fun

In addition to all of the fun outdoor adventures that will call to you at Vermejo, we have several annual staff activities like volleyball and horseshoe tournaments, staff barbecues, horseback rides and more! We hope you will make friendships that will last a lifetime during your time with us.
