Room and Board

As a benefit to full-time employees, we provide low-cost housing in-season (and year-round to employees who commit to working for Under Canvas during the upcoming season). This unique benefit allows team members to live in comfortable, furnished housing units—each of which includes a kitchen, bathroom, living area, and several bedrooms (usually two people per bedroom). Housing options are within 10-20 minutes of camp.

Getting Here and Getting Around

The camp itself is located in Surry, ME. The neighboring town of Ellsworth has many options for groceries, restaurants, farmers markets and shopping. Additionally there is a free shuttle that connects Ellsworth to Bar Harbor. 

For Fun

Spend your free time exploring nearby forested trails, setting out on sailing and kayaking adventures, and visiting nearby Bar Harbor for fresh seafood, ice cream, and shopping, all just 30 minutes away.

    As a Housekeeping Inspector you play an important role in creating a memorable first impression for our guests from the moment they enter their tent. Known for providing guests with a glamping experience that includes all the comforts and luxury of home, your role is to ensure our tent accommodations are clean, well-maintained, replenished with consumables, and ready for our guests to enjoy their stay. This is a seasonal, hourly position and includes the option of team member housing for the duration of employment.     As a Facilities Technician, you work closely with the Facilities Supervisor to ensure our glamping location is well-maintained, safe, and operational for our team members and guests. You play an important role in our success by performing daily maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of our tents, amenities, equipment, and property. Depending on the camp location, the nature of work performed will vary from basic upkeep to more technical functions such as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. This is a seasonal, hourly position that includes the option of team member housing for the duration of employment.

    • Perform day-to-day maintenance and repair work at a camp location consisting of up to 80 high-quality outdoor tents with plumbing, communal structures with showers and toilets, laundry facilities, restaurants, common areas, fire pits, outdoor activities, and equipment
    • Work alongside facilities team members, under the director of the Facilities Manager, on related tasks and in across multiple departments as needed
    • Other duties as assigned

    Preferred Qualifications

    As a Food & Beverage Attendant, you are the main point of contact for our guest dining experience. You will engage with guests at our café style restaurant where you will make recommendations, process transactions, run food and drinks, and support the entire operation as needed. Your goal is to provide stellar service ensuring our guests have everything they need for an enjoyable meal outside together with family, friends, and nature. We cater to a diverse range of guests including groups, families, and individuals varying in age, interests, and with various degrees of comfort in outdoor elements.
