About Steamboat Springs Transit

Steamboat Springs Transit (SST) is a municipal transit service operated by the City of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. At 6,700’ in the Rocky Mountains, this northwest Colorado community offers year-round recreation — including a world-class ski resort, pro-rodeo grounds, and an Olympic ice arena. It is home to a historic downtown, vibrant businesses, active arts and culture, unique events, celebrated mineral springs, and an 80-year Olympian tradition. SST runs through it all, connecting people with the things they need, the activities they enjoy, and the people they like to be with.

Located in the beautiful Yampa Valley, away from the frenetic I-70 corridor, Steamboat Springs is a thriving, authentic city with its roots deeply planted in the American West. While welcoming guests in the thousands when the Champaign-powder snow falls, it retains its hometown feel thanks to its history, traditions, quirky residents, and loyal friends. You will sense the unique, ranch-to-mountain character of this place whether you stay for a season or for the long haul, and you’ll love to call it home.

The Employee Experience

Work, live, and play in the heart of the Rocky Mountains.  Enjoy all activities the outdoor world has to offer – fishing, hiking, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, hockey, ice skating, skiing, snowboarding, indoor tennis and pickleball, and camping in wilderness that starts just beyond your backyard. Meet guests from around the world and enjoy all the fun activities a resort community offers year-round.

Grow your career: New hires looking to obtain a class B Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsement for the first time start out in a 5-week paid training program. Candidates who already have the appropriate CDL can test out of the full 5-week training and expect to begin driving routes after a 2 week-long orientation. Gain experience working for a real city transit system that you can take with you on your next adventures.

Live where you work: Employee housing is located on the Transit Operations Center property located in downtown, where employees start each shift.

Ideal Candidate

The drivers who flourish the most at SST have an eagerness to learn and enjoy helping people reach their destinations and sharing all that Steamboat Springs has to offer with guests. They are capable of self-reliance while also taking pride in contributing to a team effort. They like routine with just enough daily challenges and surprises to keep things interesting.

Safety is our highest priority, and we are looking for drivers who can meet that demand. We will provide all the training needed to help you get the proper commercial driver's license. We are looking for seasonal and year-round staff.

Room and Board

We offer shared housing at $300/month. You will share a bedroom with one other employee. There are 2 kitchens, living rooms, quiet areas, bathrooms and a laundry room to be shared by all staff living in housing.

Employee Perks

We offer a 4-day work week with 3 days off. You will have time to enjoy a great work/life balance.

Bonuses:

  • $700 early-sign-on bonus

  • End-of-season bonus for employees who work through April 11, 2027:

    • $3,000 for those who clock 1,000 hours or more

    • $2,000 for employees who clock 750-999 hours

    • $1,000 for employees who clock 500-749 hours

Getting Here and Getting Around

Ride the free bus to get around town. If you have a vehicle, employee housing has parking available. There are shuttles to and from the local airport. Please remember that as bus drivers, the public relies on us!

For Fun

While in Steamboat Springs there are numerous activities to participate in. We have hot springs pools, an ice rink, indoor tennis and pickleball courts, world class skiing/snowboarding, rivers and lakes for fishing or tubing, and plenty of space for hiking and camping!
