Room and Board

The Ponds at Steamboat, less than 2 miles from the base area, hosts a number of two-bedroom/two-bathroom apartments.  Available on a first-come, first-serve basis, these fully furnished units include all utilities, Wi-Fi, basic cable, and local phone service.  Dogs may be accepted-space permitting.  Upon confirmation and acceptance of a position, a housing application and additional information may be obtained at shousing@steamboat.com.

    POSITION SUMMARY

This position will assist the department with the full cycle of catering and conference services processes and interface with all appropriate departments.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    • Work closely with Catering & Conference Services Managers and Director of Hotel Sales and Catering

    • Assume the Project lead role for various initiatives throughout social and group catering to grow sales and ancillary spend

    • Monitor the conference services inbox and voicemail and assist managers with leads, proposals, and RFP’s

    • Manage oversight of daily, weekly reports, and distributions for Delphi Management system

    • Update and program menus and items in the Delphi Sales Management system as requested

    • Provide onsite support for the banquet and F&B teams for conferences, weddings, social events etc.

    • Oversee and carry out various day-to-day departmental administrative functions

    • Coordinate, initiate, and prepare, client billing ensuring they are being sent in a timely and accurate manner

    • Maintain group folders, pre-con notebooks and preparations related documents for all group & social catering business and assist with social catering contract issuance

    • Manage oversight of all vendor related communication, including filtering of pre-event related questions and all pertinent load-in/load out information for events

    • Work with assigned groups to detail conference & event needs and provide clients with accurate, detailed BEOs, estimates and layouts

    • Assist managers in the scheduling, preparation, and execution of site tours

    • Distribute mail daily, make sure all managers get copies of pertinent emails of all intercompany happenings or pertinent information and update department bulletin boards with current information

    • Assist Director & Managers on special projects that occur

    • Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements

    • Other duties as assigned


    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Knowledge and use of Salesforce/Delphi helpful – Run Reports, Contact Management, Generate contracts

    • Knowledge and use of MS Office Products-Design, create excel reports and word memos

    • Must have good communication skills

    • Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed

    • Must be able to work outside in sometimes inclement weather

    • Preferable to be able to provide ski/ride tours with groups

    • Must have a valid driver’s license with Certificate of Insurance and meet company insurability requirements

    • Must be able to travel by vehicle when required, at times in winter driving conditions in Colorado

    POSITION SUMMARY

    WORK SCHEDULE:

    • During the Snowmaking season, (mid-October - January) this position is required to work from midnight to noon on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and every other Thursday.

    • The rest of the year the work schedule is Monday through Thursday working four ten-hour shifts from 6:00am-4:00pm


     ESSENTIAL DUTIES: During the Snowmaking season (mid-October – January)

    • Instruct, direct, assist, and consult with crews with the goal of helping them to successfully complete their assignments in a safe, effective, and efficient manner

    • Maintenance and repair of all snow making equipment, and infrastructure

    • Assist in planning snowmaking field operations

    • Operate snowmaking equipment, snowmobiles, and snow cats as necessary in support of snowmaking operations

    • Meet, brief and de-brief snowmaking crews at shift change

    • Ensure that snowmaking facilities are kept in a clean, organized, and functional condition

    • Advocate for snowmaking personnel

    • Advise superiors of any situations or conditions that might influence the safety, efficiency, or moral of snowmaking employees

    •  Suggest plans and actions to maximize these conditions

    • Process and manage any documents that may be necessary from time to time. These include but are not limited to; Maintenance records, Incident and Accident reports, Snowmobile and Snow Cat work orders, and Safety Suggestions

    • Ensure that snowmaker equipment is assigned to snowmaking personnel and that a record of such assignment is taken and kept.  Likewise, ensure that such equipment is returned and accounted for at the end of the snowmaking season

    • Monitor weather forecasts and conditions and assist in making decisions based thereon as to where and when to commence or cease snowmaking operations

    • Assist with the planning and preparation of the annual snowmaking orientation and help with all aspects of its presentation

    • Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements

    • Other duties, as assigned


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES: During the remainder of the year

    • Perform preventative maintenance, service, calibration, and repairs of all types of snowmaking equipment

    • Assist with any new construction or expansion of snowmaking infrastructure

    • Make Snow as needed

    • Repair air and water hydrants

    • Inspect, repair, and/or replace hydrants in field

    • Perform minor building maintenance such as cleaning and painting

    • Organize and maintain snowmaker equipment such as hydrant wrenches, helmets, headlights, utility belts, etc.

    • Complete work orders and any other paperwork required for the work assigned

    • Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements

    • Other duties, as assigned


    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • 2 years of previous work history/education required

    • Snowmobile certification (may be acquired after hiring) ATV’s (may be acquired after hiring) required

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Steamboat Grand Team is looking for a new assistant manager to join it's banquets team. This position requires a very detail oriented individual that is highly independent. Working closely with our banquets team this position will help execute the many events hosted at the Steamboat Grand throughout the year.     • Review all BEOs, along with the Banquet Manager, making sure the department is prepared for all functions

    • Plan, supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the banquet function. Consult with Catering/Conference staff, Director of F&B and/or Executive Chef on such items as serving arrangements and additional employees and equipment needed.

    • Supervise and assist with all operations, which may include: setting tables, stocking service stations, taking orders from customers, serving, clearing and cleaning tables, setting up bars and other service stations as needed

    • Monitor food and service to ensure that appropriate quality standards are maintained

    • Confer with Catering and Sales, F&B Managers and other company personnel to plan, coordinate and evaluate services and activities. Also frequently exchange information and resolve problems as they arise

    • Supervise guest counts at meetings, breaks, and meals, and make sure bill is prepared according to these numbers. Reconcile gratuity allocations and submit for Banquet Manager approval

    • Regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of the responsibilities described herein

    • Work directly with restaurant managers to cross utilize service and set up staff

    • Ensure that alcohol policies are being enforced

    • Oversee shift meetings

    • Work with Banquet Captain to administer Workday Time Keeping

    • Attend BEO meetings and organize BEOs in binder for all staff.

    • Request order for supplies such as china, glass, silverware, or meeting room supplies from purchasing agent with director approval, if needed. Supervise inventory and orders for table linen, china, glassware, silverware, chafing dishes

    • Establish standards and procedures for all banquet staff

    • Develop and implement hiring and training programs to ensure all positions are adequately staffed with trained personnel

    • Interact with guests and group contacts as a liaison for their event

    • Ensure understanding and compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements

    • Participates in the service charge distribution

    • Perform other tasks as assigned


    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • 2 years of previous work history/education required

    • Prior management experience at Steamboat Ski & Resort Food and Beverage venue helpful, not required

    • Must meet SSRC minimum driving standards and have current Driver’s license; a successful motor vehicle record background check is required.

This role ensures the safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance and repair of all company vehicles and equipment. The Shop Manager leads and develops a team of technicians, manages preventative maintenance programs, and partners with departments across the resort to support operational needs. This position plays a critical role in maintaining fleet reliability, safety compliance, and overall service excellence.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    • Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs that meet or exceed OEM specifications to maximize operational efficiency and minimize downtime

    • Oversee daily shop operations, prioritizing work through the Vehicle Maintenance Team

    • Maintain awareness of daily and seasonal vehicle needs across departments and assist the Slope Maintenance Management Team in assigning resources accordingly

    • Monitor fleet condition and plan for vehicle replacement, turnover, and disposal of resort assets

    • Ensure shop tooling and equipment are adequate, maintained, and secure

    • Prepare preliminary annual operating and capital budgets based on fleet needs and operational trends

    • Monitor maintenance costs and fleet performance to maximize cost efficiency

    • Assist the Slope Maintenance Management Team in the procurement of new fleet vehicles and equipment

    • Oversee parts inventory management, including regular inventory counts and control procedures

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with parts and service vendors to ensure reliable support and priority service

    • Lead, mentor, and develop Vehicle Maintenance team, including supervision of shop staff and leadership support roles

    • Oversee scheduling, staffing, training, and performance management activities

    • Conduct technician quality control inspections and support ongoing technical development

    • Performance evaluations

    • Promote employee engagement and promote enthusiasm for the company within the department

    • Develop and maintain departmental safety and risk management policies and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards

    • Resolve accident or damage cases involving fleet vehicles, including incidents involving guests or employees

    • Maintain excellent working relationships and coordinate with resort departments to support operational needs.

    • Provide vehicle maintenance support as needed in all SSRC departments

    • Support fleet-related training for employees across departments when needed

    • Communicate equipment or personnel issues to leadership and Human Resources as appropriate

    • Support sustainability initiatives within the department and across the resort

    • Comply with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • 8 years of previous combined work history/education in vehicle maintenance, heavy equipment maintenance, or a related field required

    • Strong working knowledge of gas, diesel, tracked, and wheeled vehicles, preferably within a resort or similar operational environment

    • Knowledge of Hydraulics, Electrical systems, and Equipment Maintenance

    • Familiarity with safety standards such as OSHA, MSDS, and Lockout/Tagout procedures

    • Proficiency with computer systems and maintenance record-keeping

    • Ability to operate heavy equipment, snowmobiles, and all other company vehicles & equipment

    • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays as needed

    • Proven ability to build and lead successful teams

    • Valid driver’s license

    • Must be self-motivated and have good communication skills

    • Ability to adhere to all safety policies

    • Communicate clearly in English, both verbal and written

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Summertime is a great time for a Gondola ride!  We are looking for full-time Lead Lift Operators. 

    Alternate transportation is frequently required during summer operations, therefore CDL licenses are required for this position. Training will be provided.

    • Responsible for the daily operation of the Gondolas, pre-operational inspections, loading/unloading of guests and bikes, maintaining the work area, and other jobs assigned.

    • Efficient and safe operation of the lifts, vehicles, and shuttles.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Lift Maintenance Department is hiring Apprentice, Journeyman, and Master Mechanics. If you have a solid mechanical and electrical aptitude, we are interested in speaking with you! Our resort operates multiple types of lifts, and we just installed the longest gondola in North America, Wild Blue. During your interview you will be placed according to your current skill set and certifications held. This will also determine your starting wage. Below are some of the minimum skills to be considered for each level.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES – ALL MECHANICS

    • Conduct all maintenance activities required to assure safe and reliable operation of the area's lift system and associated equipment.

    • Conduct daily, monthly, and weekly winter operational inspections of assigned lift equipment according to prescribed inspection guidelines.

    • Complete work orders on all maintenance activities.

    • Must maintain an understanding of the current rules and regulations of the Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board and other applicable agencies.

    • Must become proficient at starting stalled ski lifts; assist in running lifts under auxiliary power and following lift failure and evacuation procedures.

    • Must continually demonstrate a willingness and motivation to learn and develop the job skills that are specific to the types of equipment that must be maintained.

    • Must be able to work well within a team to create a positive work environment in a high volume, and at times, stressful position.

    • Duties and responsibilities split between field and shop environment.

    • May work on lifts and/or gondola Must be able to work nights and weekends.

    • Work with all fellow mechanics and lift supervisors to ensure safe and efficient operations of the tramway.

    • 2 years lift maintenance experience or 3 years industrial maintenance experience.

    Work bikes are NOT provided – you must be able to provide your own mountain bike.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    • Primary duty to patrol, monitor, and maintain all trails and signage within the Mt. Werner network, enforcing ticketing and safety rules

    • Maintain first-aid supply bags, administer first-aid when necessary

    • Document incidents requiring first-aid

    • Communicate effectively with team and operational partners to ensure the highest levels of safety and efficiency

    • Provide information and assistance to the guest when needed

    • Assist with transportation of guests via ATV, van or truck

    • Assist Instructor team with lesson operations, teach lessons if certified to teach and demand requires

    • Attendance at designated meeting times on days scheduled to work

    • Trail maintenance as required on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.  Experience using shovels, saws, hammers, and other common trail work and construction tools preferred.

    • Inventory control, restocking products, and tracking theft (theft prevention) and product movement

    • Safety and security awareness and protocol

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • 2 years of previous work history/education required

    • Previous cash handling experience preferred

    • Prior experience with RTP preferred

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Steamboat is looking for cooks of all skill levels to join the growing culinary team. From entry level Cook 1 to Cook 4 for those who have multiple years of experience.     • Prepares various foods, under supervision, for restaurant and banquets.

    • Assist in maintaining appropriate quality and production.

    • Maintain high pace while cooking/prepping for a high-volume restaurant and other functions.

    • Participates in cost control and ongoing sanitation practices.

    • Set work area according to station guide

    • Knife skills appropriate for cook level

    • Will label, date, rotate product and keep a clean station. Properly store food in correct and allotted areas.

    • Complete Food Handler and Allergen training.  Ensure compliance with established health and safety procedures.

    • Report all observations of damaged/ dangerous equipment.

    • Conduct and record time and temps at station. Has awareness of storage areas, labeling and dating.

    • Takes direction from Chefs, Sous Chefs, and outlet managers.

    • Organize station to create greatest efficiency and keep work area and kitchen organized and clean at all times, adhering to all state and local sanitary requirements.

    • Assist Sous Chef and Chef with securing/storing food deliveries with knowledge of food hierarchy placement.

    • Support with communication/notification regarding product outages. 86'd items, product shortages, low inventory items.

    • Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements

    • Other duties as assigned

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Must read, write, and speak fluently in English

    • Cook 1 - Preferred experience as a basic prep cook and/or counter service worker, but not required

    • Cook 2 - One year of relevant professional cooking experience

    • Cook 3 - 2 years’ experience as a professional cook or 1 year plus an associate degree in Culinary Arts

    • Cook 4 - 3 years of relevant professional cooking experience or 2 years of experience and an associate degree in Culinary Arts

    • Ability to work at a high pace with a variety of kitchen equipment

    • Must be able to adhere to Steamboat Culinary Guidelines

    • Expected to interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers, and management consistent with Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp’s Service Excellence standards

    As part of the Lift Operations staff, you will be involved in several aspects of our mountain operations. This position is very important to the overall operation of the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation as you will be heavily involved in the safe transportation of guests up to our 2,965 skiable acres.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    • Guest service – greeting, welcoming, and providing information to our guests (verbally, message boards, weather, conditions, etc.)

    • Efficient and safe operation of the lifts

    • Appearance at the lift areas (maintenance of the lift houses, snow on the ramps and in the maze, employee appearance, trash removal)

    • Knowledge of assigned lift(s) machinery (control system, braking system, auxiliary unit)

    • Inspections of the lifts and areas

    • Complete required log sheets daily and other documents as needed

    • Control and organize guests in the maze

    • Refuse transportation to those without tickets or intoxicated individuals

    • Slow or stop lift for adverse weather conditions or to avoid accidents

    • Familiarity with special mountain events

    • Knowledge of emergency plans; evacuation, fire, lift incident, lightning, unexplained stops, serious injuries, etc.

    • Compliance with all company policies, safety and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements

    • Other duties, as assigned

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Complete required documentation in an accurate and legible manner

    • Self-motivated, responsible, and independent with a neatly groomed appearance
