About Stardust Motel

Since new ownership in 2022, Stardust Motel has built a reputation for exceptional cleanliness, friendly service, and a guest experience that rivals branded hotels. While we're an independent vintage motel, we operate with structured systems, clear standards, and a strong culture of accountability.

We're looking for an experienced Working Head Housekeeper who can step into an established operation, lead by example, coach the team, and ensure our high standards are maintained every day.

This position reports directly to the Assistant General Manager (AGM).

Position Overview

This is a working Head Housekeeping position.

During our busy season (May through October), there will be days when you'll supervise the housekeeping team while also taking your own room board. Like every member of our department, you'll lead from the front and help ensure rooms are cleaned efficiently without sacrificing quality.

Our housekeeping team is trained to clean 10–12 guest rooms between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Depending on occupancy and staffing levels, the Working Head Housekeeper may also be expected to clean rooms while conducting inspections, coaching staff, coordinating with maintenance, and communicating with the front desk.

During the slower winter months, occupancy decreases and the department shifts its focus to deep cleaning, preventative maintenance projects, inventory management, training, and property improvement projects to maintain year-round quality.

The Head Housekeeper works closely with the AGM & Maintenance to ensure every guest room is clean, functional, and guest-ready.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Lead daily housekeeping operations and assign room boards

  • Ensure all established policies, SOPs, inspection standards, and productivity expectations are consistently followed

  • Train, coach, mentor, and motivate housekeeping staff

  • Foster a positive, professional, and accountable team culture

  • Conduct daily room inspections and provide immediate coaching when needed

  • Monitor room quality, productivity, and department performance metrics

Working Housekeeper

  • Clean guest rooms as needed based on occupancy and staffing

  • Assist the team in meeting daily room-ready goals and completing checklists

  • Lead by example while maintaining high cleanliness standards

  • Help ensure housekeepers consistently achieve productivity expectations without sacrificing quality

Operations

  • Coordinate with AGM regarding preventative maintenance items and room repairs

  • Manage housekeeping inventories, linen organization, and supply levels

  • Schedule seasonal deep-cleaning and special housekeeping projects

  • Maintain organized housekeeping closets, carts, laundry, and storage areas

  • Communicate room status, staffing needs, and operational concerns with the AGM

Cross-Department Support

  • Cross-train to provide front desk coverage on the AGM's scheduled day off

  • Work collaboratively with AGM and Maintenance to provide an exceptional guest experience

  • Coordinate with the Housekeeping Lead, who provides HK coverage on your scheduled days off

What Success Looks Like

  • Guest rooms consistently meet or exceed Stardust Motel inspection standards including metrics per room

  • Team members consistently clean 10–12 rooms = per housekeeper per board  between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

  • Daily room boards are completed on time without sacrificing quality

  • Strong communication between Housekeeping, Front Desk and AGM

  • Work with AGM with linen, supply, and inventory systems

  • Preventative maintenance issues are identified and reported promptly

  • Guests consistently recognize cleanliness and room quality in online reviews

  • The housekeeping team operates with professionalism, accountability, and pride

Schedule & Expectations: This is a full-time, year-round position scheduled 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a 30-minute unpaid optional lunch break. During our busy season (May through October), the schedule is typically 5–6 days per week based on occupancy. During the off season, the schedule is generally 5 days per week. As a Working Head Housekeeper, you're expected to ensure all daily housekeeping operations are completed within the scheduled shift whenever possible. There may be times when staffing shortages or unusually high occupancy require you to work additional hours or days or assist by taking on cleaning rooms. Flexibility and a willingness to lead by example are essential to the success of this role.
