Due to the ranch spanning 150,000 acres in a remote and scenic part of Eastern Oregon, team member housing may require a commute ranging from a 10 – 40 minute drive to The Retreat (including housing located on the ranch or retreat).

The Retreat at Silvies Valley Ranch is located in a remote and rural part of Eastern Oregon. Planning your travel is an important part of beginning your season successfully.
Getting Here
Team members arrive by car, as the ranch is several hours from major airports and public transportation is extremely limited to the region and unavailable to the ranch.
Closest commercial airports include:
- Boise, ID (BOI) – approximately 3 hours away
- Redmond, OR (RDM) – approximately 3.5 hours away
Employees are responsible for arranging their own transportation to the ranch. Once hired, our team provides detailed directions, packing lists, and arrival guidance to ensure a smooth start.
Getting Around
Because we’re situated on a 150,000-acre working ranch with no public transit, having a personal vehicle is required.
A vehicle is needed to:
- Travel to and from work, including all Retreat housing locations
- Shop for groceries and other essentials
- Explore nearby towns and recreational areas on days off

Ranch Hand
The seasonal Ranch team members will be part of the support system that keeps the Ranch running smoothly. This role will maintain and build various projects for the Ranch. You can expect to work 40 hours per week (4-5 days depending on the job). We are looking for two experienced Ranch Hands who can be a jack of all trades.
