Job Details
Paintrock Canyon Ranch is seeking a Camp Hand to support and elevate the guest experience at our outdoor camp, serving as one of the primary representatives of Ranchlands and the landscape we steward. This role blends hands-on operations, guest interaction, and educational engagement—helping with meals, leading activities, maintaining Camp spaces and operations, and sharing the story, mission, and daily rhythms of our working ranch set at the base of the Bighorn Mountains. Living and working on the ranch offers a unique opportunity to be part of a collaborative, mission-driven team dedicated to stewardship, hospitality, and meaningful connection to place.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Support all mealtimes through breakfast and dinner service, cleanup, and exceptional guest interaction.
Represent Ranchlands’ food program by educating guests about ranch-raised ingredients and our mission.
Maintain core Camp operations—cutting and chopping firewood, managing campfires, filling water tanks, and keeping Camp spaces clean and well-stocked.
Care for guest facilities daily, including cleaning and stocking the bathroom and shower areas and managing hot water systems.
Lead and assist with guest activities such as hikes, naturalist walks, bird watching, fly fishing, and other afternoon programming.
Ensure overall Camp functionality by maintaining lighting, supporting grounds upkeep (irrigating, mowing, weed-whacking), and assisting with any guest-service needs that arise.
Characteristics for success:
Maintain a positive attitude at all times.
Exceed guest's expectations; go above and beyond to deliver an outstanding guest experience.
Be proactive, self-starting, and able to work independently and collaboratively.
Be safety-oriented when driving on ranch roads, operating tools such as chain saws or other power tools and equipment, and handling fire.
Comfortable living at Camp in staff tents for a portion of each week while guests are on the ranch.
Skills and qualifications:
Service or hospitality experience is preferred but optional.
Excellent conversationalist and communicator.
A can-do attitude and excellent, thoughtful problem solver.
An ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests and other ranch staff.
Ability to recognize when tasks must be done and take initiative to complete them.
The employee must be at least 18 years of age.
Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
6 months of previous physical labor experience.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work long hours including weekends and holidays.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may vary on a weekly basis depending on the needs of the business.
A valid driver's license is required for operating ranch vehicles and equipment.
This full-time seasonal position (mid-May–early October) is based at Paintrock Canyon Ranch in northern Wyoming, with shared housing provided. Two to three nights per week are spent at Camp in staff tents. Meals are provided for any meal time shifts worked. Ideal candidates are warm communicators with strong work ethic, physical stamina, and a passion for guest service, outdoor work, and contributing to a mission-centered ranching operation. Salary includes a portion of tip pool, averaging about $2,000/month per employee. Please note this is a hospitality role, not a ranch hand role.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. Ranchlands is unable to provide or assume sponsorship for an employment visa now or in the future.
Ranchlands’ is an Equal Opportunity Employer, drug free workplace, and complies with ADA regulations as applicable.
