The Employee Experience
Pahaska Tepee is a family-owned business with a peak season staff of about 50 employees. You'll know everybody's name and we'll know yours. We pride ourselves with not being the corporate environment and being more people/employee oriented.
Plus, you will be living in one of the most unique locations in the world! Historic Pahaska Tepee, Buffalo Bill's 1904 "Gem of the Rockies", was built in the heart of our nation's first National Forest (Shoshone), next to our nation's first National Park (Yellowstone), and on both sides are America's two largest wilderness areas in the lower 48 states (North Absaroka and Washakie)! Our frequent visitors are buffalo, moose, bears, foxes and occasionally, wolves.
We try to schedule you to work 35-40 hours per week. Over 40 hours is considered overtime and paid at one and half times your hourly wage. We offer a healthy bonus if you stay through your full season hiring contract date. We will try to schedule your days off together.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate should have a love of the outdoors, a desire to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and a strong work ethic. All employees must be 18 years or older and are expected to exhibit proper hygiene, a neat appearance and maintain a clean living environment.
We expect our employees to provide guests with western hospitality and always have a positive “can-do” attitude. Our employees should be motivated by service with a strong dedication to honesty, integrity and courtesy. Leave the negative attitudes at home and come enjoy Wyoming's great outdoors!
We also encourage the older and bolder people to apply. Have specific needs? Send us an email and we’ll be happy to answer individual questions.
Our season runs from May 8th through October 12th. We hire most employees for the entire season, however we also have needs for partial season employees. We want to hire people who are excited to work in a new location, meet new people and make lifelong friendships.
Room and Board
Our housing is dormitory style and are no-smoking or vaping. Most likely you will have one or two same-sex roommates and a shared bathroom. Quiet hours are 10pm to 9am. Everyone must be respectful of shared spaces and each other. Sorry, we do not have housing for families or pets. In our employee dining room, we provide three well-balanced meals per day at a minimal cost, and internet and utilities are included.
Employee Perks
At Pahaska, we all work together, live together, play together and form friendships that can last forever.
We strive to give you 2 days off in a row so you can take advantage of this great country! While workdays can keep you running, we encourage everyone to use their off time to recharge with nature and enjoy new adventures. The spectacular Wapiti Valley is full of endless hiking trails and other outdoor opportunities and they are all free!
We have an employee TV and rec room and limited satellite internet access. We have no cell phone service but Wi-Fi calling seems to work.
Employees are also given a 20% discount in our gift shop. Visiting family will receive generous discounts on accommodations.
Getting Here and Getting Around
You are responsible for getting to Cody, Wyoming. From there, if you don't have your own transportation let us know and we will pick you up in Cody between the hours of 8am and 8pm. Please note that we DO NOT pick up from Billings, Bozeman, Jackson, etc....
Cody (COD) has a small airport accessible from Denver (DEN) via United.
If you are driving, take highway 14-16-20 west from Cody for an incredibly scenic one hour trip through the spectacular Wapiti Valley. If you are planning on driving through Yellowstone, we are just outside the East Entrance.
