Boutique Hotel Seeks Line Cooks for the Fall/Winter Season and Beyond

Line Cook — Orcas Hotel

There’s nothing quite like fall in the San Juan Islands. Join our kitchen team and enjoy living and working in our little island oasis.

Our historic 10-room hotel and café welcome travelers and locals daily, with café service from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. We’re hiring line cooks for late fall and winter, with opportunities for year-round work.

The quieter months are a great time to settle in before spring and summer. We require a minimum six-month commitment and prefer candidates interested in staying through summer 2027 and beyond.

The Role

We’re looking for dependable cooks who value a friendly, ego-free kitchen and take pride in consistency, cleanliness and teamwork. At least one year of relevant kitchen experience is required.

Responsibilities include:

• Line cooking during service
• Prep and station setup and breakdown
• Maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards
• Supporting teammates during busy service

Qualifications

• Prior line cook experience required

• Strong attention to detail and consistency 

• Calm, team-oriented approach with no ego

• Reliable and comfortable in a fast-paced kitchen

Pay & Benefits

• $18/hour base pay plus participation in the tip pool
• Total hourly earnings typically average around $24/hour during low season and significantly higher in summer; tips vary
• Shift meals and dining discounts
• Subsidized employee housing may be available ($500–$950/month)
• Seasonal and year-round opportunities

About Orcas Island

Orcas Island offers exceptional access to hiking, state parks, beaches and water activities, alongside a strong local community. Our café overlooks the ferry landing and Salish Sea, with regular wildlife sightings.

Having your own transportation is encouraged. Candidates must have valid U.S. work authorization for the full employment period. Visa sponsorship is not available.
