This is more than a kitchen job—it’s a four-month residential learning experience for people who want to develop practical vegetarian cooking skills while living and working in a community.
WHAT?
A hands-on vegetarian kitchen learning program—not simply a kitchen job. The participant becomes part of the kitchen team and learns through doing: meal preparation, menu coordination, kitchen organization, nutrition, and organic gardening.
WHO?
We’re looking for someone who enjoys cooking, is excited to learn and build real-world kitchen skills, and wants to grow through hands-on experience and reflection. You’ll work as part of a team, take on responsibility, and be part of a community.
WHEN?
The program is a four-month residential program, offered three times a year, with the possibility of extending for an additional two months by mutual agreement. Each program period offers the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in kitchen work, learning, and life in an intentional community
WHERE?
Ratna Ling Retreat Center in Northern California, surrounded by redwoods, hiking trails, and close to the Pacific Ocean.
HOW?
You’ll be an active part of the kitchen team, preparing wholesome vegetarian meals for retreat guests and residents while developing skills in food preparation, menu planning, kitchen organization, and teamwork. You’ll also have opportunities to participate in organic gardening, meditation, and community activities, bringing learning beyond the kitchen.
WHY?
This is more than a place to work. It’s a chance to learn, contribute, and grow while living in a beautiful natural setting.
