LOCATION: Northwest Youth Corps Headquarters, Eugene, Oregon. Requires periodic (less than 20%) travel to remote project locations within OR, WA, and ID.
COMPENSATION: $20.00 per hour (nonexempt)

Organizational Background
Since 1984, Northwest Youth Corps (NYC), a non-profit organization, has given tens of thousands of youth and young adults opportunities to learn, grow, and experience success. Through partnerships with conservation agencies, youth and young adults gain the personal and professional skills needed to carry out a variety of stewardship projects, from which they can earn a stipend, high school credit, and/or an AmeriCorps educational award. NYC also operates an accredited charter school, internship program, and the Idaho Conservation Corps(ICC).
Position Summary
The Communications Coordinator assists in the development and management of social media, website, and recruitment campaigns for Northwest Youth Corps and their suite of programs. The Communications Coordinator will develop more public awareness about Northwest Youth Corps’ ongoing programs and recruitment efforts needed to support those programs.
This position is an active member of the Communications and External Affairs Team and will work to both showcase the various conservation programs we operate as well as help attract the next generation of conservation heroes by managing targeted recruitment campaigns.
Position Details
Department Supervision and collaborations
· This position is supervised by the External Affairs Officer
· This position works closely with Programs and Member Services departments to promote program activities and recruitment initiatives
Risk Management responsibilities
· Meet criteria/certification for utilizing vehicles, tools and/or any NYC property
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Create compelling video, photo, and written communications content for social media, websites, recruitment campaigns, promotional emails, and additional communications materials
· Manage social media channels by posting new content, responding to messages and comments, and creating Stories, Reels, and/or posts in accordance with communications goals.
· Assist with online recruitment campaigns by creating and sending mass emails and publishing and managing content/position descriptions to social media and webpages.
· Help to establish and coordinate a communications and recruitment campaign calendar to maintain consistency and accountability
· Assist with the preparation, editing, and printing of communications materials such as reports, brochures, fliers.
· update company websites and online postings.
· Assist in managing company photo and media library.
Position Qualifications & Certifications
· Passionate about creating meaningful content with an eye for design
· Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
· Excellent writer and proofreader
· Familiarity with social media and content creation
· Experience with video and graphic design software, including Adobe Creative Suite and Canva, or willingness to learn
· Willingness to learn new systems and software as needed
· Appreciation for working with young people from diverse backgrounds and collaborating with project and community partners
· Comfortable hiking, camping, and being outdoors

Terms of Employment
Based in Eugene, requires periodic (less than 20%) travel to remote project locations within OR, WA, and ID. This is a full time, hourly position. Typical hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00 PM, with periodic long days and/or evening and weekend responsibilities seasonally. Eligible for 20% remote work (One day per week) after 60 days of employment.
