About the Role

Montana Supply is looking for a reliable, organized, and hands-on Shipping & Receiving Assistant to join our Operations team in Big Sky.

In this role, you’ll help keep our inventory moving smoothly from the moment it arrives through receiving, processing, backstocking, and ultimately onto the sales floor. You’ll play an important part in maintaining an organized stockroom, preparing products for our customers, and ensuring outgoing shipments and vendor returns are handled accurately and on time.

The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in staying organized, works well as part of a team, can work independently, and enjoys finding ways to make processes more efficient.

What You'll Do

Receiving & Inventory — 50%

• Bring incoming deliveries to the receiving area within one hour of arrival.

• Sort and inspect deliveries, verifying products against purchase orders and invoices.

• Identify and communicate late or past-cancellation-date deliveries before receiving them.

• Receive and process deliveries efficiently and according to established standards.

• Ensure incoming packages are processed within five business days.

• Communicate receiving discrepancies and inventory issues to the Shipping & Receiving Manager.

• Prepare merchandise for the sales floor, including steaming apparel, labeling products, and sorting floor stock from backstock.

• Restock the sales floor as needed, generally in the morning or as directed.

• Return loose or misplaced product to its appropriate backstock location as part of end-of-day procedures.

Restocking & Backstock Organization — 20%

• Maintain a clean, organized, clearly labeled, and easy-to-navigate backstock area.

• Organize inventory according to established backstock procedures and standards.

• Receive and properly organize excess sales floor inventory returned by the Sales or Visual teams.

• Regularly evaluate backstock organization and identify opportunities to improve space utilization and efficiency.

• Communicate recommended improvements to the Shipping & Receiving Manager.

Stockroom Organization & Supplies — 20%

• Maintain the overall organization and cleanliness of receiving and stockroom areas.

• Regularly monitor shipping and stockroom supplies and communicate replenishment needs.

• Assist with scanning and organizing inventory documentation.

• Help identify opportunities to improve inventory flow, labeling, and storage efficiency.

Outgoing Shipments — 10%

• Monitor eCommerce sales throughout the day and pull, package, and prepare orders for on-time shipment.

• Package authorized vendor returns according to established procedures.

• Deliver outgoing packages to the appropriate daily drop-off location.

• Pick up mail and packages from the post office three times per week.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications & Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Previous experience working successfully in a team environment.

• Strong communication and organizational skills.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including shifts that may exceed eight hours.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.

• Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office.

• Intermediate knowledge of Lightspeed Retail POS is preferred.

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately handle inventory and documentation.

This is a seasonal position based in Big Sky, MT reporting to the Shipping & Receiving Manager. The role works closely with our Merchandising, Sales, and Operations teams to keep inventory and daily operations moving efficiently.
